Ian and Charles, (and others) it is nice to see so many Olympus users here. I have not received my RC yet, but I will let you know how it turns out. I have done a reseal with the 'Jon Chapman' kit on another camera and it works fine now. I hope that is all this one needs. I have the Olympus Stylus Infinity which I bought new for my wife. It is still flawless in performance, but really not in appearance.

Because I know something y'all don't
Well, I already have my XA which by now is pretty much welded to my jeans pocket, and the 35 ECR. Both are smaller than the RC. Then I have the 35 SP and the 35 DC, both bigger but have faster lens than the RC.
So I've set a new challenge to myself, get an RC for less than $10

Eat your heart out - just got a £2 RC off ebay.
Arrived this morning!
But it was described as parts or repair!
And that was stretching it a bit.
But I wanted the bottom plate to replace one on which some guy had 'engraved' his name and number. And I got that. The camera is not really a goer. But the back door is great, the self timer handle is all present and correct.
And I intend to look at the insides to see how they work - it's a non-goer so it doesn't matter if I can't get it together again! What's called a learning situation!!
The camera looks as if it has had some sort of accident. The lens is loose in its housing and the front element is scratched tp h*ll. There is a dent in the bottom. The rangefinder eyepiece is distorted as if partially melted and the whole camera covered in an odd deposit. I could spend ages thinking up implausible explanations for its condition but I'll probably never guess right.
Nevertheless a good £2 worth.

I do have an RC (what a lens!) and other compacts, less compact than it, but for some reason the very concept of a 'compact' doesn't work for me.
In theory I imagine myself carrying the camera in a pocket, a small bag, belt pouch, etc. But in practice if I do not have the camera on my chest, I do not have the pic.
Now, why not having a compact on my chest and saving weight ? Because if I already have something in my chest the difference in weight is not so dramatic for me, while the comfort of manipulation of a standard camera is more profitable to me.
Well, that's just me I guess.
Cheers,
Ruben

I sure wish I still had mine. I bought it brand new in 1974 and enjoyed using it, since it was so small and handy to use.
In 2000 I moved from the LA area up to Santa Maria, and in the moving process I had some cameras sitting on the couch waiting to go to the car. All of them made it except for the 35RC. The movers were two 'green cards' only one of whom could SORT OF speak English. I got moved OK, but I lost the Oly in the process. It was a nice camera. Guess my Yashicamat 124 was too big to haul!! It's still around.

Now I'm questioning whether my aspirations of owning a CL or CLE should be kicked to the curb! A camera can have all the right features, but if it doesn't feel right in your hands then it's as useful as... well... something that's not very useful :bang:
Okay, I actually had time to run some film through my Oly today and much to my surprise, it felt nice and comfy in my (massive) hands! Everything felt natural except that it took a little effort to get my fingers around the aperture ring. Chalk me up as another happy 35RC user. Results in the gallery to come..

One thing to remark about the RC is having both speed and aperture scales at the viewing window.
Very special.

Spider67 -- You're in luck. I happen to have a set of "Minolta SRT System Handbook", which has an "equipment inventory" in it.
I bought the 35RC on 12-16-73 and paid $98 for it, according to those records.
Purchased at a store, long out of business, named Fedco.
Further information: The serial number was 347592. If you see it floating around, please let me know!! Still wish I had it!!
