You'd think it couldn't be easier.

I bought the camera used a while back and blissfully shot vacation pictures before looking and the results and engaging my brain. The meter was way off. I've tried new 1.35v cells. Readings appear to be 2-3 stops higher than actuality. I took it to my local used shop in Kobe and the fellow said that they can't repair these old meters.

Anyone know of an option in Osaka? Or am I better off just searching for another body?

Thanks,
Phil

well the big problem with new batteries is that they don't have nearly the same consistency in voltage as the old mercury cells. are those scarce in Japan, too?

honestly you might be better off buying an OM-1n from someone who has had the meter fixed, or getting a model that used sr-44s. if you do the former, it will save you from having to ship to the States or Europe and then get the camera shipped back.

personally I don't use the meter in mine.

Cheers. The battery is a match-up, which is why I know the meter is screwy. Oh well, they're cheap used.
