OM-2n works only in Auto

Just got an Oly OM-2n that is perfect except for the Manual mode not functioning. Everything works fine in Auto, but switched to Manual, the shutter fires at the same speed (about 1/30th) regardless of where the ring is set. I tried a little DeoxIT around the base of the mode switch. Nope. Then tried removing the bottom plate and applying a few drops into the area of the speed-change switch/circuit board behind the bottom of the speed ring. Nope.
Any ideas?

When you flick the switch to manual, does the lightmeter display change to > I <
When you rotate the speed ring, does the lightmeter respond to the change?

Yes, to both. But continues to operate in Auto mode, with speeds changing in response changes in light level, but not to changes in speed ring setting. Leads me to suspect the Mode switch's electrical function, as it's mechanics seem to be working. Since the meter needle responds to changes in speed ring position, seems speed ring itself is OK.
