OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

I've got a couple of OM2s, and to me they're like Apple - sexycool, user friendly and fun to use. My Nikon FM may be more robust, but the OMs (with loose wind-ons and less trustworthy lightmeters) are much more fun. For 30-year old cameras they feel so contemporary in design.

On another note - my favourite lens is the much-derided 50mm f1.4 silvernose with a low serial number - it's just beautiful and I wouldn't swap it for any other zuiko. I was pretty disappointed with the results from 50mm f1.8 MIJ which is supposedly so much better. Any other users out there with positive feelings about the silvernose?

My 28 f2.8 is rather nice too.

Yeah! I have 50mm 1.8's in MIJ and non MIJ varieties, and I much prefer my silvernose 1.4.

Yeah - beautiful! If any silvernose dislikers are out there feel free to get in touch - I'll take them off your hands, no charge like.

Silvernose is special in its own way

Silvernose is special in its own way

I have both the silvernose and "unicorn horn" (>1,100,000 SN) 50/1.4 lenses, as well as the 50/1.8 MIJ. There is no doubt that the unicorn horn performs much better wide open in most typical situations, but the silvernose photos looks better to me for f/2 and above apertures (based on side by side comparisons). In addition, the handling of the silvernose is much smoother as well due to much smoother focusing ring action. I found the 50/1.8 MIJ to also be too stiff in focusing. My youngest son is becoming interested in cameras and noticed the difference in handling as well - he much prefers the silvernose. Considering both the silver nose and 50/1.8 have essentially the same max aperture, there is no contest - the silvernose wins.

I like my silver nose 50 f1.4 too. It would be nice to have a MC version as well but it's not one of those pressing, "I need it now" situations.

It's funny. I've only had one 50mm with any camera system I've owned. But with the OM4T I have three. One old 50mm 1.8, a MIJ 2.8, ang anf F2.9 Macro. The last one being my favorite. After reading this thread, looks like a 1.4 is in my future.

I have a black OM2n with the winder and a few 50/1.8's, but my favorite is my 24/2.8. I use them on my A7 and A7R mostly. Here is a shot of a local church with the 24/2.8.

Stick with the f2.0 Macro: what a fabulous shot!

Very nice pictures in here.
For the last few months I've been learning the OM system.
This is my last 2 acquisitions:

Really enjoying the OM.

5 years and 50 cameras later I'm back to the OM system, a giant circle that I don't want to make again. I lusted for a black one for a long time, and 40/2 always seem to be out of reasonable price range... until this week. I wish this would cure my GAS for a moment. Hope to share some pictures soon.
