I found the place to store the cover. Excellent! Just overlooked it. Forget about my whine above about Canon winders...

Welcome to the OM-4 club, Frank! You'll never want to use any other SLR after that.
Couldn't agree more. Congrats Frank.

Here is a shot using my OM4Ti and the OM Zuiko 90/2 macro.

OM4T requires battery to work, auto exposure (dont kid yourself you will use it on manual--everyone says they will/do, practically nobody does it) can make you lazy for shooting if you know what i mean
I haven't had any of my OM-4T bodies on auto in almost a decade. I should probably have the OM-3 or OM-3Ti which is the manual only, mechanical shutter version of the OM-4, but I use and recommend the 4T because it costs 1/3 what a 3Ti costs and the original OM-3 ate batteries and costs twice what the OM-4T does used!
given the choice, spot meters are the only way i like to use my serious/modern cameras, or more correctly take my thought out shots (assuming i am not flash metering or incident metering). that doesnt mean i cant adapt easy when using the average meters in many cameras (didnt have much of choice in the old days), when using the OM1 i simply evaluate the scene looking through the finder and adjust the needle up or down based on experience and a little guess work, its not hard, takes an instant and becomes second nature,
i very rarely believe/take for granted or agree with what the so called 'centre' weighted meter says (because they arnt that good!), even on the modern Bessa III using AE, the meter is hopeless in many situations (contray to popular opinions- though it is no more hopeless than a pocket VC meter or many centre weighted average meters in old slrs) , but the work around is as normal for using these basic metering methods on cameras with AE such as the OM-2, Bessa III etc etc ,point the camera to a spot that has the lighting level you want, even if its the grass at your feet, hold the exposure and recompose. thats just another small reason i prefer to use the manual cameras OM-1 or 3Ti---its just smoother working procedure with the camera up to your eye, choose settings and composing without shifting the camera around to extreme different spots all the time or taking it from your eye--spot meters help in this regard as you can usually pick out a spot in the viewfinder you like.
just some rambling thoughts/i do like the spot meter though
I agree on Centerweight meters, they suck. Little better than guessing, really. I love the OM-4T spotmeter and when I use my Hasselblad or my Leica I use a handheld spot meter even when doing street-type candid work with the Leica. I've gotten so fast at taking readings with my Sekonic L-508 and calculating the exposure that its alost as fast as a built in meter.

The best camera is one that still works!
Yep, they're just nifty-spifty!
The only thing I want for my OM-2N is a some kind of half case with a bump on the right side to make the camera easier to hold.
This talk of the OM-4(T/Ti) and its metering system has got me checking prices on those things, too. I've never used a spot meter but I'm not that happy with my exposures these days.
I take it that all models of the OM-4T and OM-4Ti have the upgraded circuits, while an OM-4 may or may not have the upgrade??
I use a Luigi grip case made fpr a Leica M on my OM's ... the cutouts for the strap lugs are in the wrong position which doesn't matter as I seldom use a strap. Aside from this the case fits like a glove and makes the camera much more ergonomically user friendly.

I have a copy of Bryan Peterson's popular "Understanding Exposure". It's an informative and useful book, but, as you read it, it becomes clear that in many respects it is a collection of ways to work around the limitations of center-weighted meters.
Keith: That Luigi case looks at home on the OM. I have a Chou half case for an M3 I no longer have. It fits well on my OM, but obscures the viewfinder.

Does anybody use the 1.2/55? How does it perform and what would be a reasonable price?
I think it would be a nice combo together with my beautiful OM-1N

There is also a 50mm f1.2, which is newer. Said to be sharper wide open, the 50/1.2 is also more costly. The 50 goes for about $500, the 55 about $400 usually. I have not used either, but the consensus on the OM email list (which you should join if you love Olympus gear!) is that the 50/1.4 with the high serial number is better than either of them and given that its only half a stop slower, a much better deal. The 50/1.4 is smaller, cheaper, lighter, sharper, and easier to find than either of the f1.2 lenses.

Oh wow, there's a little slot inside the battery compartment for the winder cover!
I've had a Winder 2 for years and never noticed that!
(Sadly, there was no spare cover hidden in it)

Superb shots cmedin!
I finally got my 24/2.8 back from friend. I'm excited to really try out the lens this winter.

On 2S, MD 1& 2 are limited to 3.5 fps maximum (due to program governor built into mirror mech) but on OM-1 through 2N will do 5 fps (possibly only with 18V Grip). John

No new post in 10 hours on this thread? A bump with some pics is needed.
Not really Zuiko bokeh or unique shots, but the OM gets me what I want.

Both OM-2n + 85/2 with expired Tri-x pushed to 1600 from a recent weekend day trip.

Most of my OM kit:
OM4Ti, 24/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8, 55/1.2, 90/2 Macro, and the 35-70/4 zoom. Interestingly enough, the zoom is a fantastic lens, even more so for it's low price. I recently acquired the 28/2, 40/2, and 50/1.4.

How many is enough?
Ahem. Now that's just overkill (said the OM buyer that now has his 4th body on the way). (It's a complicated story, what with kit purchases, etc...I'll not keep them all) Since you already had the 35 and 50 lengths covered, send me the 40 and I'll figure out something to send you back!
Seriously... you made excellent choices with regard to which FL and speed lenses that you chose. I also have a black 4T on the way! Woo Hoo! that looks nice, doesn't it?

Wow! I'm so jealous! Now all you need is a body to go with each lens! Really nice.
