OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

Thanks for the feedback on the 28 3.5. I am getting the urge to look at some of the other lenses mentioned as well. The 28 has arrived but haven't had a chance to run a roll of film through with it yet.
 
I just ordered a bargain OM2 from KEH. :D
One of my gallery shots that was a bit of a hit this week was made with my PnS using aperture priority, and I realized I probably would've missed that shot had I used my OM1. Laying down $56 for an OM2 didn't seem to bad to me either.

Maybe someone can answer this question for me? I've been thinking of selling the 300mm f4.5 that came with the kit I got recently ... I've used it once and it's a great lens but realistically I'll probably never use it again! I was checking eBay to see what they've been going for and the price variation was bizarre ... from around $200.00 up to and beyond $500.00 ... which is some variation!

Question regarding OM diopter

I have a few OM SLRs as well as a Nikon FM. I really enjoy the ergonomics of the OM but for some reason through the viewfinder focusing never seems to pop when in focus, while with my FM it really pops and is very easy to focus. The OM1 had a CLA about a year ago so it is not the camera itself, neither have diopters so I am lost as to what could cause this. If there is no fix for this I would hate to have to let the OM cameras go.
 
I'm the exact opposite ... my OM's pop into focus and my FM3A is soft so it's all to do with individual eyesight variations I guess.

Pickett Wilsom mentioned in my thread about diopters for Nikons that there is a Nikon diopter that fits the OMs ... it might be worth while giving him a PM and finding out which one!

Yeah I bought a +1 diopter because I thought I read somewhere olympus viewfinders were -2 by default and nikon fm was -1, but it doesnt seem to be the case.

Thanks Dan, I checked it and unfortunately it doesnt seem to make a difference. I have a few other OM's and they all seem to look the same as well.
 
Which model would fit:

- AE
- black paint
- does take all OM lenses, that matter (f2 or 2.8 24 or 28mm, superfast normal lens, fast medium tele 135ish, f2ish)
- does not break the bank
- does take standard batteries (or batteries, that can still be bought in a convenient fashion)
- does not have bad behavior like breaking and costing more money to repair, than to re buy in a regular manner
?

The OM-1 looks very sweet on paper, except the different shutter speed dial concept (never, ever held or even used an Olympus).
This thread gives a nice taste of it.
I like the FM3a recently with a newly bought 28/2.8 and it is a very nice and compact combo, but lacks a nice viewfinder actually :-(

I have a comprehensive book about Olympus SLR's and it says the diopter in an OM is -0.5 :)

I know squat about these sweet little cameras - where would I start, to get some buyers knowledge about weak spots (most of these should be pretty run down, if available here in Shanghai by today)?
