OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

And how great is that little 28mm f3.5!!!

What does it say about me that I use some of the best 35mm film gear in the business (eos 1n and zeiss lenses) and yet I still lust for OM gear.

It says you need to use your P67 and 105mm Takumar more! 😀

I had an OM2000 with a late MiJ 50/1.8 for a while and loved it, but sold it off when I got rid of most of my SLR systems (I was up to 4 different 35mm SLR systems at that point).

A couple months ago I realized that I really did need a small manual SLR for days when I didn't want to haul my larger Mamiya 645 or Maxxum kit and when I did want an SLR. What I really wanted was that OM2000 back, but I ended up grabbing a beat up old pre-MD OM-1 with an early 50/1.4. I kinda like the little thing although it has issues and needs a good CLA and some meter work.

And then today I tripped over a nicely brassed OM-4T with a 24/2.8 at the local pusher. And agreed to swap my M3 which was due back from the shop shortly for the OM-4T and lens.

I still want another OM2000 though.

Ouch! You hit a sore spot there Keith! 😉 It's actually not working properly at the moment - I even sent it to CR kennedy - the pentax distributer/repairs center for Australia. I told them that after a roll or two the shutter locks halfway through the cycle and won't come back down, as if the battery is drained. Same story with new battery fitted - suspect faulty electronics around battery chamber or unusual battery drain. It came back many weeks later with a note - "camera working fine, needed new battery." :bang: So obviously they didn't quite get what I was saying. I think I might have to sell it as parts - can't bear to send it overseas for a service, it just weighs too much and is too old...

It's a pity because I adore it. I'll just have to follow your suit and buy a 67ii.

I'm still amazed at how little I had to pay to get my 67ii with 75mm and 105mm lenses. A lot of that is due to the generosity of Barnwulf who sold it to me and partly due to the depreciation of hi class MF gear ... or film gear generally I guess!

It's an incredible camera ... I'm actually a little in awe of it still! 😀

Speaking of Barnwulf he hasn't posted in the gallery or a thread here for ages ... I hope he's OK. 😕

I only have four, but even that is a lot to carry. For a minimal trip, I took only the body and 90mm F2 macro. Got some great shots and it changed my artistic perspective for the better. Didn't really miss the other lenses!

Now that I have an E-PL1 so I can play with the OM lenses, it looks like i might need to get the Zuiko Digital 50mm F2 macro and 4/3 adapter, unless Olympus would do an M-version (please).

I seem to have graduated bak to my black camtech CLA'd OM-1 at the moment ... I keep thinking I want an OM-4 or OM-3 and in fact came very close to buying an OM-3 but didn't do the deal in the end.

I've now put the best screen from all my bodies into my OM-1 ... it has a microprism circle in the centre but no split image focusing and came in an OM-2 I bought recently ... it seems very bright. I've never used that split image focusing method on any SLR! I've also decided the OM-1 should be the semi permanent home for my 50mm f1.2 ... I need to use that lens more considering what it cost me!

The other amazing thing is I sold my Nikon FM3A ... it just never quite measured up to the viewfinder magnificence of the OM's ... so it had to go! 😀

I pushed the button on an OM4 a couple of days ago. It's got a serial number over 1 million so I hope it's one that had the battery drain problem sorted out. If not then I'll just get in to the habit of taking the batteries out when I finish using it.

It looked to be in very good condition and the price seemed reasonable so I'm looking forward to having it land on the door step so I can get a chance to find out why everyone raves about them.

Photos from OM Zuiko Are beautiful But I didn't like the Film SLR experience much!
I always feel like if the mirror is coming out to SLAP ME 😱 !!!
