I have the 35/2.8 and I do like the focal length.
I just think it's bad for a zuiko prime. YMMV.

While garage-sailing this last weekend, I spotted a box full of camera goodies. Inside was a *working* Leicameter in a case for one day when I can trade up my IIf for an M3.
Yes, I asked the lady if she still had the camera that went with the meter-- she looked at me as if I had grown antlers, and made me take the *whole* box of stuff.
Back at the car, I dug around to see what else I had bought. Two Prospec Canon FD lenses that were so full of what I assume is fungus that I couldn't even see through them. A Minolta 16 "spy camera"-- can I even get film for this little guy anymore? Assorted broken flash units.
At the bottom of the box, however, was the prize. An absolutely pristine OM2n in the most beatup case you ever saw. In the lens cases I found a 50/1.4 and a 28/2.8, a nice little Sigma 70-210 macro zoom, and a Tamron 90/2.5 WITH the 2x attachment.
All of this for $5.
Yeah, some happydancing is going on 'round here!!

I dream of that kind of garage sale find. I'm going to garage sales in the wrong neighborhood. :bang:At the bottom of the box, however, was the prize. Brilliant luck! The Tamron 90/2.5 is a legendary lens, and you can't go wrong with an OM-2! That is a killer find!
BTW I'll take those fungussy FD lenses if you want to get rid of them.

if that Tamron goes 1:2 it's the same optical formula as the Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 that both Roland and I own. I don't use mine much, as I'm not a telephoto guy, but when I compared it against my 105/1.8 Ai-S the Viv smoked it.

this should be the 40/2.0, and those are birds, not stuff on the neg
If you don't mind, here is an old shot (for me, anyway) from when I first started to take photographs that weren't just test shots to learn how to expose. I had barely gotten my things unpacked for grad school and I went to go visit Harvard Square for the first time since leaving Massachusetts in 2000. With the 28/3.5 on Reala 100; I had a lot of fun using this humble little lens, should probably use it more.

Got batteries for the OM, dug out some expired Kodak color film, took the whole kit to the park this afternoon, and had a wonderful time playing-- I've been shooting digital Nikon for the last few years, but it was an absolute joy to carry a small camera like the Oly. This may sound funny, but it's the most rangefinder-ish camera I've ever used.
That Tamron 90 (yes, it *is* the 1:2, plus I have the extender!) is the nicest manual lens I've ever had-- I cannot *wait* to see the results!!
Now look what you all have done-- I've got a dozen rolls of various Ilford black and white on order, and I'm thinking of ordering up developing gear again. Any suggestions for developer? It's been twenty (okay, thirty) years since my limited darkroom days, and I have forgotten most of what I learned.

Not funny at all! The dimensions are very M-ish, and the controls are simple, straightforward and intuitive.
There are many choices for developer, I am obsessed with tanning developers right now, specifically I have just received some Finol and will be souping some 4x5 next weekend.
Welcome to the OM side!

I like Rodinal 1+50, but I might start with DD-X since you will get faster times.
14 minutes is a loooooooong developing time, but I don't really want to go to 1+25

You can't go wrong with D-76, Laurie. I've been using it for decades with quite nice results, especially with TRI-X and Ilford HP5. And you are quite right about your perception that the Oly is smallish after using large DSLR cameras. I have the same feeling when I pick up one of my Pentax Spotmatics.

Added some new Zuikos this past week. Pen F lenses: 20/3.5, 38/1.8, and 100/3.5, with a Pen FT to go with them. Also a Pen D that has a fixed 3,2cm/1.9.
Ran some Kodak Gold 200 through the cameras today. Got the rolls developed/printed at the drug store, and the results look outstanding for the SLR lenses. Some of the Pen D shots appear hazy (flare from a bright sky and no hood), but it is a cool camera.

Some day a Pen-F (first gen without meter) will come to live with my Pen-F 40/1.4 and 50-90 zoom. I gave up looking a couple of years ago after losing too many Ebay auctions. Pen-F will fall out of favor again soon and that "F" will come walking through the door!

So I took my OM-1, grabbed an Olympus 25mm extension tube from eBay, slapped it on my Vivitar 135/2.8, and here's what I came up with. This make for a pretty nice (and cheap) macro setup and that I'm still able to shoot handheld.

Very nice Alan.
I just this weekend bought a set of no-name extension tubes for the OM and your posting makes me excited to try them out.
