Congratulations Fred !!
So, what is the going rate for an OM 35/2.8? I am venturing to an antique shop tomorrow a friend has told me has tons of old cameras and equipment. It would be nice to find a little OM 35mm lens for a good price. KEH currently doesn't have any listed to base my expectations from.

$50-$75 US? Maybe less from an antique or thrift store.
Thanks for the quick response.

on the 35/2.8; I have the later MC version and while I have some shots I like taken with it, I was only using it because I liked the focal length. I really don't like the lens, I'd rather have the cheapest 28 or 50 even though I like 35mm a lot better than 28mm.

To be honest, i don't use mine much either. But not because I don't like it, or don't like the length (I could never sell my Hexar..) I just seem to use a 50, or go wider with the 24. What is it exactly about the Zuiko 35mm you don't like? Did you sell the 35/2? I'd love to try one, but tapped on lens funds right now.

As I have been putting together a lens kit for OM, I, too, realized that I fall in this boat. I decided that wider than 25 and longer than 90 I want to use the SLR, otherwise a RF. Certainly makes for strange packing when I go somewhere.

I've not had the 35/2, my comments are limited to the f2.8
I just don't like the lens. I don't like the way it draws and it's never struck me as particularly sharp. The last shot I took with it was on digital and it had a look that was downright plasticy; a far cry from my other late MC zuiko's (sharp, cool) or my chrome nosed zuiko glass (gentle, pastel).
Samples I've seen from the 35/2 over the past two years have not convinced me that it's worth purchasing. This is a focal length that RFs do better IMO and I'd much rather have the CV color skopar personally. of course, that is because I have and use both OM and M. if you are stuck with SLRs, maybe you can find an old ZF 35/2 distagon.
remember that this is a very personal decision, I've seen a good number of people who love the 35/2.8, I'm just not one of them. I've never gotten a shot back from it and thought to myself, "wow, what a lens!". And yes, I do believe you can get that from a Zuiko the way you can from Zeiss or Leica, although they do it in different ways.

If I want to use a pol filter and color film, my OMs with 35/2 beat my Leica with 35 Summicron easily. I have a late 35/2 Zuiko and it's a great lens. My only complaint would be that it's a little big. Posted this before, on Ektar:
Just yesterday got a 20x30 inch print of this and it looks great.
Don't know about the 35/2.8. But generally, I found sample variation across Zuikos quite significant. Just saying.

Ahh, some excellent results on this page, it almost makes me regret my getting rid of whole of my OM kit.. But the craving for larger negative was soo bad...

I absolutely love my OM lenses on my E-510. The 50mm 1.8 in particular takes such awesome shots. I love how it captures brown/yellow tones.

my second OM2! I love this camera.
I agree. I now have OM-1's, OM-2n, OM-3, OM-4t, OM-10 and OM-PC. And I find the OM-2 is a total joy. (I got lucky and found one in as-new condition and it's a real jewel).
That little OM-2n has become my favorite of them all.
