A cardboard full of....

Few weeks ago i bought a cardboard full of photo equipment for a sum of 130$
the highlights are a fully functioning om4t and an amazing 100 F2
I was blessed by the olympians .

O.S

I have been happily using the 24/2.8, 35/2.8 & 50/1.4 (all single coated) on my NEX-6 and so many consider an OM body. Any suggestions on which model?

Depends....

Simple mechanical camera OM1n manual camera.

OM2n with auto.

Best viewfinder you will ever look through.

Or

OM4t (3t if you have the $$$) has the best metering system eve made in my opinion.

Peace

what's your budget?

If you don't want to spend that much, OM-1 or OM-2 n, with a 1-4 screen (you can do that later if you prefer, but I wouldn't wait).

If you are willing to put a little more into it, I do prefer my OM2-sp with 2-4 screen. I personally really like having the exposure compensation dial be featured like that (I put the camera in auto and the use exp. comp to "fix" the meter) which is why I haven't replaced with an OM-3. actually the camera itself isnt that price it's the screen, which costs and arm and a leg, but won't fit in a regular 2 or the 1.

Hi,

I'll go along with the others:

OM-1 as it was the original* and started a trend.

OM-2n because it made some sensible improvements to the OM-1

OM-4Ti if you've the money and luck...

OM10 if you want one that's dirt cheap and to play with, add the manual adapter for more control. Also, an interesting metering system that used reflections from the blinds.

Try and compare screens as no two of us agree on them and some suit different styles and lenses. Also there's two series of screen, depending on the model/age of the body, I forget which.

Regards, David

* The series runs M-1 renamed OM-1 for obvious reasons and without the MD badge or connection without returning to the factory; then the OM-1 with the "MD" badge that took the winder without any fuss or bother and, lastly, the OM-1n with minor improvements.

My £50 50mm f1.2 has now been professionally cleaned and is on it's way back to me. Looking forward to trying it!

After being happy with the results of the 24/2.8, 35/2.8, and especially the 50/1.4 on my NEX6, I picked up an OM-1N to utilize them full frame. Despite the convenience of digital, I still prefer the plasticity of film images. Maybe, I like the wave properties of light over its particle aspects - at least until the last Les Paul, Strat, or Telecaster is buried.

Is there much point getting a 35mm (probably 2.8 due to cost) if I already have a 28mm? Same question with the 50mm 1.4, as I have the 1.8.

Hi,

I was disappointed with the f/1.4 50mm but the standard f/1.8 sets the bar very high and I probably expected a lot more.

As for the 35mm, it's a useful one to have and the f/2.8 version is not to be sniffed at. Wait until August - the holiday season - when every one's away and not bidding on ebay and you might get one for pennies...

I like the 35/2 a lot, and find the 50 1.4 just as good as the 1.4 most other manufacturers produced. OK at 1.4, really sharp at f2.

My $6 OM PC came in the mail yesterday, and after installing new batteries, the mirror came down, and all systems are go! Had to clean the scurvy off the covering with some alcohol, and the fingerprints off the viewfinder and filter (thank goodness it was on there protecting the 35-70 Zuiko), but it's looking good now. I'm not liking the fact the lack of useful information in the viewfinder (just like the G). Might as well have gotten a rangefinder.

The OM-PC may not be the most rugged OM but I love the ESP metering more than any of the others. It really works well with slide film.

To the earlier question about getting the 35/2.8 when one already has a 28/2.8...

In my opinion it isn't needed. My 35/2.8 is really in mint condition but it's nowhere near as nice as the 28mm.

Love those OMs

Love those OMs

I'm new to this forum, and I really enjoyed this thread. The OMs are some of my favorite cameras.I have an OMG I bought new,an OMF I just got off ebay,an OM PC I got for free from a camera store that was closing,an OM1 I bought from the same store, and an OM2S I bought used when I was still shooting only film.I also have a fair assortment of lenses and accessories, and an adapter to use the lenses on my micro 4/3 camera.I love all this stuff, and use it whenever I can.

I took my recently acquired OM-1 MD out today with the Zuiko 35-70 attached. I can't say it was a good day, as the meter is very jumpy, if it's working at all. Not good when using a zoom lens. I'm going to give the OM-2n a shot, and then decide if I'm keeping the outfit.
