I've had one for years.
Wonderful.
Especially with the wide zoom 28-48.
There's some sort of fault with all OM2SP's circuits that they need new batteries about once every month or so.

Thanks Jon, I knew I there was something, just couldn’t bring it to mind, do they drain even when they’re switched off, or are they just thirsty

I think it's a great camera (I have four, plus OM-2's, 1's and 4's). Mine tend to eat batteries also, although not once a month (every 6 months?). It handles more like the OM-4(t) series than the earlier ones. If the price is great, go for it. I have picked them up on EBAY for quite a bit less than $100, all in great condition.

I have had a 1972 om1 from new and use that for longer lenses, my om2 was stolen a few years ago and I wasn’t going to bother replacing it; then at the weekend I found this, it’s a bit expensive but it looks unused………and you know about temptation

A great SLR. The battery drain problem is much discussed but not as often found. Mine uses one set a year. Once mine locked up, requiring a $50 fix to unlock the wind gears, and I was told this is an occasional problem with some. Watch out for a collapsed rewind button.
The viewfinder with a "2" series screen gives the most lovely image in the OM world, maybe the best of any SLR. It's bigger than that in the OM-3/4, which is set back some to make room for the dioptric correction gear. You may spend as much on the 2 series screen as you do on the camera!
For what they are going for these days, a fabulous value.

Great for flash use, just fit an Olympus 20/32 flashgun and don't worry about exposure

Much more modern than OM-2, the LED in the viewfinder is like those in OM-3/4, a far departure from the simple needle indicator on OM-2.
I wouldn't pay too much for it. If you have the itch for spot metering, go for the much more reliable and featured OM-4. If you like classics, the OM-2 or OM-2n is more so.

I would be using it just for telephoto stuff, I expect in manual mainly.
I lost all my Oly stuff in a burglary a few years ago, but the 28 and 85 f2 I would be adding a 100 and perhaps a 135

My batteries last for weeks, but not months.
Not a major problem, as the batteries are very inexpensive.
Perhaps they fixed it in later years? Although I don't recall it was in production for long.

Go the extra step and get an OM4. You will not regret it :evil:

hmmm, OM2sp has bigger finder view than OM4? I thought my OM4t fitted with 2-13 is perfection itself, can anything be bigger/brighter?
