Is anyone familiar with the mechanics of this American ancestor to the Koni/Rapid Omegas?

The problem I am having is the the parts that couples the finger trigger to the shutter release on the lens does not quite reach if the focus is racked out to around 8 feet or closer. For focus at longer distances (ie the lens panel is closer to the camera back) it works fine, and the shutter cocking couples over the full range.

It does not seem to be missing any parts, but this is the only one I have ever seen so I am not certain. Possibly there is an adjustment method that just is not obvious.

Any suggestions (or diagrams or photos) or a working one would be helpful (the coupling is hidden under the easily removed bakelite caps that adorn the left hand side (in shooting position) of the lens.)

The only clue I have now is drawings from a repair manual for the Koni-Omega, which is similar but not quite the same.
