Surfing around the bay looking for a 35 summaron and found an M4-P for $600. I had also been looking for a good user M4-P body so I decided to jump on it. Guess the summaron will have to wait a month or two. I can't believe I just bought it ...

I'm having a bit of buyers remorse. Usually I think over a purchase before going through with it. This time it was pure impulse. Maybe I will sell my iiif to make myself feel better. lol

Remember the saying: "He who hesitates loses." Lets say you like blondes but a gorgeous brunette comes your way...

I saw that auction and I almost snatched it up... I have one already. It is a great camera.

The M4-P is the sleeper of the Ms and if Sherry had it you are one lucky man. Best thing to do is dry fire it about 1,000 on each speed when you get it. It sounds like it has not been used enough to keep her really happy. Speeds should be spot-on then.
It is a great camera, use it and you will love it.

I have used my M4-P for years and still think it is a fantastic camera. If you checkout Gary M4 on Flickr I have Leica shots of Melbourne and portraits in the Leica Boutique gallery.
Congrats on your purchase.

I did see that camera within minutes of it being listed. Luckily, it was a US-only item. Otherwise, I would have had a hard time resisting the buy-it-now button
Good catch. I think you did the right thing with BIN rather than bidding for it at $450 start (it would have gone way over $600 in the end).
Impulse is the spice of life. You'll love your decision.
Enjoy.

Thanks for all of the input. I just heard from the seller and it is going to the post Tuesday. Should be here in 2-3 days and I can't wait. I managed to sell a few things to make up for most of the money that I spent. In the end I'm out of pocket $150, which is nothing to complain about. Waiting with anticipation ...

You did good, I'd say. Don't worry, be happy, burn film like there is no tomorrow.

Cool. In my book, the M4-P is the best Leica of all.

Only M body I need, and have. I have no need for a M7, or M8, or M9.
All mechanical, built like a tank. If it were ever stolen, misplaced, or damaged beyond usage, I would buy another M4-P
If you like rangefinders, compliment your M4-P with a Mamiya 6 or 7. You will have everything you will ever need in 35mm and 120mm with those 2 camera's - you will have perfect film camera's. Then rather than multiple bodies, acquire lenses. What is the lens you are thinking of starting with ?
Pictured here is a 40mm Nokton, but a 28mm Elmarit might be nice, if you can swing it. The M4-P has 28mm frame lines, your set

I plan on using the 40mm nokton as well. I will also have the Summitar and Elmar available for use when I pick up an adapter. I am very fond of my Summitar so an adapter is a must.

Yes, keep using that Summitar. A very underrated lens that deserves much more notice.
That said, with a M4-P you've a nice set of options.
Good light!

... likes film again.
Congrats on your M4-P !
IMHO, the best M-Leica ever made.
40mm works very well with an M4-P since the 50mm frame-lines are as large as in the previous models.
