No problem! Your comments re the F-5XC were just so opposite mine I thought there must have been a mistake :). Sorry it didn't work for you. It is indeed a personal thing.

Oh, and I also wish Domke would make an F-5XB+ (or whatever), just a bit larger in each dimension, so you could more easily slip in a couple of lenses, and everything would be on one "story". The 5XB is almost perfect for the 2 camera + 2 extra lenses setup, but just the tiniest bit too small.

I feel the same way... a slightly larger 5xb would be a great one camera day shooter. Have you checked out the 832 yet? I saw one at Samy's camera here in LA and fell immediately in love with it, plus it comes in rugged wear. Ordered from B&H and haven't looked back. At this point I think I have more Domke camera bags then my wife has purses...

Heres an interesting review... in Korean i think. It shows the bag off pretty well and even though I don't understand anything he says, It seems almost universal in its explanation. What it doesn't show are the dividers that come with it that allow small mods in both compartments to alot space to smaller items.

I believe I've picked the 832 up and looked at it at my shop. I couldn't quite suss it, if I recall correctly. Perhaps I should look again. The deeper bags don't really do it for me (the F-5XC only works due to the lower zipper and the "story" technique), but I'll have to check it out again to be sure.

I definitely have more bags than my wife :eek:. She's been using the same Coach purse for the last 15 years or more.
 
5xb without the zippered top would be great! what i like best about the retro 5 is that there is a large opening that doesn't narrow because of a zippered top.

can't say that i like that domke rugged wear look...it's an ugly brown...

I agree. I like the "bucket" design of the other Domkes a bit better than the F-5XB. That said, give the F-10 a look. It's shape is just a little odd, but it is more of a bucket design, very roughly the size of the F-5XB. It also has a huge front pocket, which is nice.

Think Tank sent me a Retro 5 to review, I will have the video review of it up soon. It's clearly a very nice bag, and I like the fact there's no top zipper, but I'm finding it has too many bits and bobs in the way of the main opening for my taste. It makes it a bit difficult to use every cubic inch of the bag. On the other hand, it seems Think Tank has thought of everything, feature-wise, when designing the bag, and its construction is impeccable.
 
i plan on using the retro 5 often, just not sure what will go into it.
i think it would be great for the rd1 with lens attached and maybe 2 other lenses tucked inside.
it also works fine with the rd1+lens and the x100...

the x100 fits best alone in the domke 5xa.
