If you click the link clear at the bottom you can print out charts to carry with you. I did this when I first started shooting completely manual. The Fred Parker site is a good read on determining EV's

Another tool I like (especially for RF cams where there's no DOF preview button 😉 ) is DOFMaster LE which is a DOF calculator for the Palm OS. I use a Handspring Treo so I have this calculator with me all the time. If you don't use a Palm Pilot you can run the software on Windows or use the online calculator and print the charts. 🙂
