Was my experience too, did this quit often intuitiv without asking me why. Now I know.
Fully agree, there's a special kind of satisfaction if you nail it with the 50, really difficult to describe.

I've experienced this before. Street photography for me is between 35 to 50mm. Funnily enough I never bonded with a 40mm. And the satisfaction from nailing it with a 50 is more.
But then I extend this to medium format as well. Nailing a street shot with a 110mm (50mm equivalent) gives me greater satisfaction. Not sure why exactly.
