One camera / three lenses / 35mm film - Pick your system

Minolta Dynax 9
Minolta 28/2.0
Minolta 85/1.4
Minolta 200/2.8 APO

Edit: I didn't consider zooms, I might choose the Minolta 17-35/3.5G over the 28/2.0.

I'm more inclined to medium format, but from my current 35mm kit, I would trim it down to the following:

Minolta SR-T 102
28mm 2.8 MC Rokkor
85mm 1.7 MD Rokkor
135mm 2.8 MD Rokkor

To Eric, the OP: I don't know what the Spotmatic SPF is, but I have following that was my father's camera:

Pentax Spotmatic II
28mm 3.5 SMC Takumar
50mm 1.4 SMC Takumar
135mm 2.5 SMC Takumar

It needs a CLA after over 40 years, but it is a lovely kit.

I'm kind of having it now at least, it took some time.

M4-2, 35 3.5 G, 50/2 C and 90/4 LTM.

And I was thinking if I want to spend much more for faster 35, modern 50 and 90 M, but
... no GAS for modern glass, because I like B/W most, with some seasonal outbreaks on color manageable with Smena-8M. 🙂

SLRs doesn't strikes me at all. And I don't have good enough scanner and enlarger to match modern lenses capabilities...

Pentax Spotmatic II
28mm 3.5 SMC Takumar
50mm 1.4 SMC Takumar
135mm 2.5 SMC Takumar

Sounds good to me, mine is actually a bit different :

Spotmatic F
28mm 3.5 SMC Takumar
55mm 1.8 SMC Takumar
85mm 1.8 SMC Takumar

The 2.5/135 is terrific indeed, but a bit too big and heavy for a 3 lens setup.
It goes well in a pair with a 35mm IMHO.

Ok, lets play:

Leica M6 classic (black, as would be the lenses)

Leica Summicron 35 asph
Zeiss Sonnar 50

thats enaugh, but hey, i get a third lens, so let it be a elmarit 28 asph

I prefer the 35 2.0 and 28 2.8 Variants by Leica over the ZM Versions that i have. The Summicron because of the Lens Signature, the Elmart because of size, but i would be OK with the 28mm Biogon as well.

schöne Grüße,

Johann

I'd take that 85mm over the 135mm anyday ! 😉

I would be very happy with a :

Nikon FM3A
Distagon 21mm 2.8
Nikkor 28mm 2.8 AIS
Noct Nikkor 58mm f1.2

PS : I would probably choose a black Pentax MX and some M lenses over the Spottie.

There is altogether too much Leica stuff here! 😀

Lou, 85mm is probably my favorite overall focal length. If I could have only one lens, that would probably be it (but I would sure miss the 28mm, which runs a close second!).

I like the 135mm for tight head shots when doing portraiture. In fact, I like having the 85, 100, and 135 for portraiture.

That's why I chose 28mm, 85mm, and 135mm (the 135 2.8 in my Minolta kit is smaller and lighter than the Pentax 2.5). I use 28 and 85 for landscape and 85 and 135 for portraiture.

I just added a 90 to round out my three lens kit. My kit looks like this and am happy with it. 20 rolls of AGFA Precisa just arrived in the mail. +15C today. All is good 🙂

M4-P
CV21/4
Summicron 50 v3
M-Rokkor 90/4 CLE

Tough choice indeed!
M2
Zeiss C Biogon 21mm f4.5
Ultron 35mm f1.7
Zeiss Planar 50mm f2.0 - alternatively the C Sonnar 50mm f1.5
Possible 35mm contender would be the Distagon 35mm f1.4. I don't have that one yet, but it is on its way.
But for the rest of my life - no way. Possibly for the next couple of month!

Nikon F5
Nikkor 28mm f2.8 ais
AF Nikkor 50mm f1.8 D
AF Nikkor 85mm f1.8 D.

The 28mm is an awesome lens and has not been beaten by the af versions.
The 50 and 85 are also tack sharp and dont weigh a ton either, so feel good on the solid F5.
