One camera / three lenses / 35mm film - Pick your system

M6 TTL
35 Summicron f2;
35 Summaron f3.5; and
50 Collapsible Summicron or 50 Zeiss Opton Sonnar or 50 ZM Planar or 50 S Sonnar with adapter. Am easy on the 50's which are my preferred lens.

Pentax MX with

Tokina 2.8/24mm (own that)
Takumar 1.4/50mm (own that)
Takumar 1.9/85mm (want that)

Chose the Pentax since it is almost as small as a Leica LTM camera (yes it's smaller than an M body!) and offers TTL metering, DOF preview, flash sync at 1/60th, of course has parallax control with all lenses mounted, and a very roomy and bright viewfinder. I've given this choice some thought recently and as a result I kept the Pentax Mx and sold the little Leica IIIa syn. Put the revenue towards paying bills.

Gotta admit I'd sure miss my Nikon workhorses if only were system were allowed. And also I'd like to have a fourth lens, the Mir 24M 2.0/35mm with a Pentax K adapter. But hey, if it's only going to be three lenses, then the 85mm would be best I reckon...

I could do fine with a Nikon FG, 24/2.8 and 50/1.4. That's about all I use, anyway, except for a recent flirtation with 8x10 and 36cm Heliar. That's still three lenses. 🙂

There is no way I could survive without a longer lens for landscapes and wild life.

So, while my RFs are my favorite cameras, I have to pick an SLR. And I need to pick the best SLR 35mm lens that I have and go from there:

Maxxum 9, Minolta AF 35/2, 85/1.4 and 200/2.8.

Cool kit, thinking about it 🙂 And good question !

Roland.

Nikon F6, Nikkor 28/1.8G, Nikkor 50/1.8G, Nikkor 105/1.8 AI-S.

OR...

Contax RX, Distagon 28/2.0, Planar 50/1.4 and Planar 100/2

Can't decide. 🙁 With increasingly failing eyesight, Nikon will be better long-term. Contax is more warm and fuzzy, though.

Nikon F6 ... State of the art film SLR.
The good news: it will last longer than I will.
The bad news: it will last longer than I will. (maybe that's just me 🙂

Nikon 28mm
G 1.8 AF (my second favorite focal length)
Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art AF (my favorite FL)
Sigma 150 2.8 macro AF (for landscape, portrait, flowers and bugs)

Two things surprise me here:

2 out of the 3 lenses are Sigma (!?) but, yes, I own all three and the Sigmas are excellent.

50 to 150 is a big jump but I'm guessing if I needed telephoto and had only one choice it had best be significantly longer than 50.

The kicker is one system for life. I would dearly love to choose my Zeiss Ikon ZM system, or my Leica M-A system, but I have go with SLR if I am only allowed one.
