Approximately one year ago, I picked up a film camera for the first time in nearly 15 years. I can't even say that I "went digital", I really did not take many photographs at all in that time, and was only a casual photographer in any case previously, hauling out the old SLR for family gatherings, weddings in such.

Last June, I made a conscious decision to rediscover photography as a craft and as an art form, and become more than simply a taker of snapshots.

With the help and inspiration of many in this and other online forums, I hope that I am making some progress, but I know that I still have a lot to learn.

So, it is with no small amount of trepidation that I present my modest journey of re-discovery of the world around me, as seen through the viewfinder and captured by the lens.

Each shot in this set is my single favorite shot from each of the cameras that I have used this year. I didn't set out to do a "52 cameras in 52 weeks" kind of thing, it just sort of happened that way. I hope that you enjoy them.

jesus upside down picture, giant barbie head on plastic table, red arches, shed window from inside, and roadside cross with lavender silk flowers are killer pics.
all of these would be primo in black and white, too ... :)

The Maytag washer reminds me of one my mom used when I was in the first grade. That wringer on top was vicious if you got a fleshy body part (like a finger) caught in it, it hurt like heck to get it back out because the wringer would push all the blood to the end of the extremity that had been trapped. My father, for years, had a saying to describe someone being in a very difficult situation: They "got their tit caught in a wringer." Ouch, ouch, ouch.

These pictures are a nice exploration of your world.
