Oh, man, that's got to be painful! I still have mine. It's wonderful for MF, but it just takes a *very* long time (unless you scan at a really low DPI resolution); it takes me about 7 minutes to scan one frame. That's not counting the alignment, zooming, pre-scan cropping, etc.

That's why I got the 4490, it is very fast, yet I think the light source of the Epson 2450 is better.

FWIW dimmers don't work with fluorescent bulbs. It could be useful to rig multiple bulbs to switch on and off individually.
