Thank you my friends - I'm fine, just stuck in Nagaoka with all train services suspended again due to this morning's aftershocks (which woke me up at 4 am - I was on the top floor of a hotel and it started rocking - strange, strange feeling). I was on a train to Naoetsu yesterday when it did an emergency stop, and then we could feel it on and off for 15-20 minutes. A helpful Japanese man explained everything. (I had initally planned on going to Sendai yesterday but on a whim decided to go to Nagano instead...) Not sure about the coming weeks, I'll wait and see how things unfold.
