So I'm looking at a BIN sale on eBay of a clamp-on hood for the 50/1.8. The hood is all black, with the lens data on the side, so I figure it's for the later version lens I have for my P. I kept thinking I have a hood already, but maybe it's not correct for the series. And the price is well below any other hood I see, with free shipping.

It finally comes in today from Japan after I had to go to the Post Office to chase it down (another story worthy of a long rant), and I grab the bag to fit it to the lens. And there it was, the other hood I was thinking of. It's the screw-on version chrome hood with data for the 50/1.8, 35/2.8, and 35/3.2.

But at least the case the clamp-on hood came in will fit either hood, so that's a plus. Now it's just a matter of do I keep both hoods, just in case that when I do finally get a 35mm, I'll have a proper hood for it, or sell it off as excess?

I guess it can wait like all the other stuff around here. Now, if I could just get a clip-on 40mm lens cap...

Pity that seller did not describe it well !
Hope you find the clamp-on version Phil !

Sorry I confused you, Hans. I did buy the clamp-on version, which the seller described correctly, with many photos. I already had a chrome screw-on version, so now I have both types. Where I got confused was I thought the screw on one I had was the one that came with the 100mm, forgetting all about the one I bought some time ago with the chrome hood for the normal and wide-angle lenses.

It was a senior moment.
