One Reason I Love Digital: Cheap film.
Craigslist is my buddy. I've scored camera gear, furniture, a tv, hell even my current job. I also score cheap and sometimes free film. Loads of it from photographers switching to digital. The best ones are from professionals who are switching as they usually have tons in cold storage. A few months ago I received for free over 100+ rolls of 120 Kodak Ektachrome. Absolutely free...the guy didn't want anything for it, he just handed it to me. I was happy.
Today, I bought the following for $100:
Fuji NPS 160 - 21 rolls
Fuji NHG II 800 - 43 rolls
Fuji NPH 400 - 31 rolls
Fuji RHP III - 4
Fuji Provia 100 - 6
Fuji 64T Type 2 - 3
Kodak Tmax 100 - 14
Kodak Tmax 400 - 21
Kodak Tmax 3200 - 4
Kodak Kodachrome 64 - 5 rolls (expired 10/96)
Kodak Kodachrome 200 - 8 rolls (expired 04/96)
Kodacolor Gold 200 - 2 rolls
Kodak Royal Gold - 25 iso - 2 rolls
Kodak Panatomic -X 32 iso - 2 rolls - anyone know what developer to use on this film or advice on how/what to shoot it with?
Kodak Ektachrome 200 - 2 rolls.
So break out the calculator that's about 168 rolls of some fresh and some expired film.
I need a bigger fridge and my wife is going to kill me when she gets home.

Film is the other way
Last summer a Wedding Portrait Studio here in Toronto dropped film. I got a similar deal about $1/roll. All fresh in 135x36exp and 120. I loved it.
BTW I looked at the 22x30 in inkjet prints people are in love with and are purchasing and I was astonished. The pixels were visible! Go figure.

People are willing to overlook the crap results because of the instant gratification and well if it was a digital capture it must be good. Visible pixels are proof the emperor is not wearing his made to measure Bironi suit....

You go John! the thread title scared me a little

it is amazing how good expired film can be! even after a few years of expiration date!
Keith
The best camera is one that still works!
I also saw the thread title and thought ... "another lamb to the slaughter ... this should be good if somewhat predictable reading!"
How come I never find deals like that ... Oz is just too little!

Haha...just trying to tease you to look at the thread and be pleasantly surprised.
So does anyone know anything about Kodak Panatomic -X film? Seems that it was used for aerial photography as it's very fine grain. I'm thinking of what to use it for...landscape is probably a good bet. I can't wait to test it out.

agi, don't use it. Keep it for when the film will be dead (or niche product). Hehe.
