Friends,

It's been a while since posted my last gallery. I finally got some shooting done last month on a trip to Hoi An in Vietnam. You'll find the gallery here:

Your critiques, comments and questions are welcomed.

And since this is a photography forum, here are some technical notes on tools used:
- Leica M3
- Leica M2
- CV 40/1.4
- CV 21/4.0
- Kodak 400TX, souped in HC-110

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the encouragement again Trevor.

I still have the CV 35/2.5 (in both Mk I and II versions). Those are excellent all-rounders.

I don't remember if you have the 40/1.4 as well. I'm starting to feel it's a much better potrait lens than an all-round shooter. I can't explain why -- it just feels completely different. The 35/2.5s are definitely sharper and crisp, but don't deliver the same personality.

Thank you Alan, you are a fine person letting us to see both your subject and your fine soul.

Alan
great shots! seeing as you used the single coated 40/1.4 i'm going to post a link to your site on a thread that has been ongoing on this forum for a few day if you don't mind?

Like this shot alot. A fine capture of the character of the location. :)

Great shots. I was particularly bemused by number 16 in the Saigon series. It looks like a barber shop with an ear cleaning? If so, that is sure different from places I was at. You might find a guy with a small hole in the wall for a shop, or it might be a guy who stopped by on a motorcycle. And he didn't have a white frock, nor use a light to see better. Ear cleaning was done by feel only, thank you! Out of 4 years, I only spent 6 months in Saigon. Most of my time was in smaller places, mostly around villages.

Thanks for the memories.

Thank you for sharing this gallery. I enjoyed it very much.

It shows that to have a lot of interesting pictures, one should have an interesting life! I'm inspired.

Wonderful work, Alan. The work felt deeper than a lot of "just passing through" stuff I've seen from others in Saigon. Thanks!
