Yup... I did it again: an attack on my finances. I'll tell you later how it turns out. In the meanwhile, let me say it has to do with my signature.

My terrible deed, I mean.

Can you guess?

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy! Even though I haven't seen it, I feel kinda nice, despite my allergy attack (or weird summer cold)...

Sun Burn that cost you money at the drug store for lanoline???????

Rover is right... you guys amaze me.

Come to think about it... not long ago, I kinda listed my inventory here!!

Now, it's not an Ultron, and neither is a Summicron. As Yoda would say, an Elmarit, it is, and inexpensive it turned out! ;)

Sorry, Joe, but you're the only people I can talk to about these things. Dear wife isn't into it at all... and we, in this forum, do nothing but gear- and photo-talk. It's bound to happen.

Now... it's an Elmarit 28/f2.8 in fairly good condition, with a broken hood, box and rear cap. Igor, from Igor Camera Exchange, says it's in good cosmetic shape. Right now, following Steve Gandy's advice, I go for users, so if it's really good in looks, it'll be a bonus.

The price is somewhat strange: less than $650. These babies, the Canadian, third version, usually retail for $900 to $1,200 with hood and caps. I must have gotten the "mistress lens" here... :)

Congratulations, Francisco... If the optical condition is good too it should produce striking images!

Yes congrats Francisco, we're getting to have quite a little 28mm club here... ;) I thought it might be a Leica lens because you passed on the Konica M I picked up from Rob - I have to say thank you for that - the lens is looking pretty good! :D

Good luck with yours! :)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I was gonna look at that one!
I'm going to have to give Igor a call real quick (ahem: Local Number! :) ) and see if he's sent it yet.

(I'm kidding- I do coffee with him every couple of months and leave most encounters rather poorer with the camera bag bumping a bit heavier)

Sherry's got a nice one, that's been up on her site for a while now, but for "rather more."

Congrats! I still think I'm going to wait for a Zeiss.

I have bought several cameras from Igor Reznik, a couple Rollei's and such. Great guy to do business with (I have a Rollei 2.8 E2 on the way right now ;) ). Congrats and can't wait to see how it performs!

Congrats Francisco.

You have been talking about a 28 for a little while so that is what lead me in that direction, plus you already have 35/50/90/135.

You have 75mm framelines my friend. :)

'You have 75mm framelines my friend.'

look up the word 'instigator' in the dictionary and you will find rover's address! ;)

Peter, the Konica was really tempting. Since I already have an Hexanon 35, I knew the quality well... However, I had a very slight misgiving that turned out to be unjustified. My Hexanon has a slightly shorter focusing throw (shorter than it should, I mean). In other words, when I want to focus to infinity the RF patch does not align by a hairline. Most of the times this is not a problem, as the few ocassions I focus at infinity I also close down the lens. However, one evening, burning some tungsten film on night shots, I found myself trying to focus at infinity with the lens wide open... I expected the results to be wonderfully unsharp.

They weren't.

And then I really regretted not having gone for that Konica 28... :(

Let's see if Igor ships fast enough. He offered to send the lens on Monday, so if I'm in luck, I will have it for our annual festival: the DeKalb Cornfest ;) ! Fun with shows, big bands, car show, rides, food and downtown blocked to traffic for about two and a half days! :D
