Canon LTM Opinions on the Canon 135mm f/3.5 chrome lens

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Those are beautiful pictures, Steve!

Man, if I have to wait another month, I'm just getting an RD-1 and that's it.

(pst, KEH has a few black 135mm for around $100)

The owner of the shop goes to a lot of estate sales. He'll buy photo gear for next to nothing and throw it in a box which I'll pick through from time to time.
Just got lucky today.

Where is the shop? I have the black version & paid WAY too much for it. I need a bargain box to rummage through!

Good luck with the lens!

From the museum, the construction seems very similar to the 100/3.5. The main lens unit should just unscrew from the focus unit. To take apart the helix, remove the RF tongue with the 2 screws that hold it and then it should come apart.

I'll let you know if I decide to part with mine. ;)

I don't know...it is ungodly tight...when I can get it to closest focus (fully extended) there are now deep scratches visible on the barrel. Maybe something got lodged in there somehow. Just prior to this, it was silky smooth, although heavy, of course. And it doesn't seem readily apparent how to separate the focus ring from the mount part.

Think I'll look for a black one next. Knew I shoulda bought Joe's way back when...:(

I found it at Arlington Camera.
They have been going through the back room and clearing out all of their old stock and had several boxes of old gear. Some cheap and some priced way too high. The owner likes to go to estate sales and buy.
The salesperson had no idea what camera the lens went to so he quoted $20.

Thanks! The R-D1 is pretty fun. It's my only digital camera, so I NEEDED it. :)

Kim, thanks for the disassembly tip. My 135 is in pieces on the kitchen table. The giant brass focusing helical (?) (some of it) is now exposed, but I still can only get it to budge a little bit. Perhaps something got caught in the focusing thread channel when I mounted the lens, and worked its way inside...? Very weird catastrophic failure.
