Opinions on the early 35mm Summilux?

I was on assignment doing a shoot with President Richard Nixon at the time not shooting football. It was the appropriate focal length for the shot needed. This isn't the only time it happened either and happened under a variety of conditions. I had a number of images killed due to flare with the 35 v1.

I just bought a preASPH summilux last month with a M6 and an tabbed 50mm summicron for $2300. I think the cost of summilux was about $700-$800 for me. My is 70's example and mechanically not so good. Focus is stiff arond infinity. I am learning to using this lens and so far satisfied with its performance. I don't have a hood yet but didn't see flare like X-ray showed yet. Most of time the flare was very local, like around small area of black hair when shooting people aganst light. I think the problem of this lens is that it is relative rare, and hard to find good examples, so price is high. Hopefully the negative comments from X-ray and others can bring down the price and more people can try it.

I don't know how to attach images, but I will load some examples in my gallery.
