I am seeing prices on Leica 50/1.4 lenses climb in price above what I canr reasonably afford. The Millenium Nikkor 50/1.4 has a great reputation and seems like a great alternative to the Summilux. Pair it with an Amedo adapter and you're set.
Anyone using this lens regularly? Any complaints? What is the MFD with an Amedo adapter?

...I've noticed that a using a UV filter on the Millennium induces flare sometimes. So I just don't use one anymore, and use a hood for protection instead.
How about using the filter and the hood? Just wondering..

Are Millenium 50mm Nikkor lenses at all easy to find? I thought they were relatively rare on their own, and one had to buy a Nikon S3-2000 kit to get one.

Pretty hard to come by honestly. You'll have to wait for it!

Love mine Kevin, great lens with the Amadeo. The backwards focusing does bother me when out shooting fast moving scenes however. In fairness, it's not my primary 50 so if it was you'd probably get used to it.
Performance is outstanding.

Hey Kevin,
Due to the focus direction, I tend to use mine alone and not at the same time with a Leica-direction 28mm. If things aren't moving fast, then no big deal, and I just rack it back and forth rather than starting at infinity and turning one way.
I have a 50 summilux pre-asph, and prefer the Millenium. Like Jon, I don't use a filter since it can cause a flare spot under certain lighting. Next time you are in the bay area (did you move yet?), you can use mine and see if it works for you ergonomically. Or you can buy my pre-asph...

Interesting about the filter and flare. Has this occurred even when shooting with a hood?

Yeah Kent, it happens when something bright is within the frame. A couple years back I rented an M8, and noticed the small spot. The moment the filter came off, it was gone. I can repeat it on a GF-1 with live view.
No filter on the Millenium for me. The pre-asph summilux is less sensitive to filters, but when facing the sun, it can really flare across the frame. I thought some haze might be driving it, but I see it now on the recent one I picked up.
If I didn't delete the scans, I'll post these photos with both lenses tomorrow.

I use mine with the filter and without the hood and I did not experience the flare yet.

... likes film again.
Using a filter the Millennium can develop a nasty flare spot ...

I have the Millennium with adapter and I have never noticed the flare. I cannot imagine a better lens for the money however and I would only give mine up if I had no other choice.

Forgot to say... there are two n's in Millennium![]()
Yikes, I used only one too. Beers are on me (15-18th).
Nice examples of the flare spot with the filter on. Without the filter they are gone (again, from testing on M8 and GF-1).

Wow, very interesting, especially the flare with filter.
Thanks for posting.

Paul your Millennium should arrive soon. Tracking read that it's gone through San Fran![]()
Looking forward to shooting with your well-cared-for lens. Many thanks for the prompt shipment Zen-shooter.
