orange filter for elmar 5cm f/3.5 info/advice

There is an A36 clamp-on filter (don't know the Leica 5-letter code), you can find them in several colors.
The clamp-on versions are a bit more secure then the push-on version.

The Leica 19mm screw-in filter code is "FPOOW" for the orange one.

I have a set of clamp-ons with my Elmar they are really a pain as you have to remove the filter to change the f-stop. They are fine on the 35mm and 100mm Serenar, and my 135 Hector or 90mm Elmar as the have a non-face f-stop ring.

Hi,

I'll wish you luck looking for a screw in version, they seem to be a rare war-time item. Although they may be an Argus one here and there.

Leitz liked yellow, green and UV filters for a lot of the 30's. There's no screw in version in the 1961 catalogue, nor the 1936 one. (I've also looked in catalogues and instruction manuals going back to 1925 but can't be bothered to list them all.)

Try 13 025 B for the A36 version (ie the slip on one).

Walz

Hi...a few years ago i had a walz set of 19mm coloured filters, included red, orange, blue, green and yellow filters. If i recall there was also a UV filter.

Check on that brand.

🙂

Just out of interest; did Leitz ever make a screw in filter for the 50mm f-3.5 screw mount Elmar? I read that the threads were really just for removing the front element. If they did I have never seen a Leitz filter at, what is it?, 19mm.

Leica + Elmar is small enough to hold that you can easily keep a filter with your fingertips in front of the lens while taking a shot. I have a collection of 52mm filters and use them basically with all of my cameras with the lens diameter less than 52mm.

Hi,

Will this do? Not on a screw mount Elmar but...

Green I'm afraid...

Hi,

If you buy the £50 one another will appear at 99p. I'd wait for that one and let the rich fight over the dear ones...

Regards, David

David, you let me know when you find one for 99p?

Hi,

Well, I might announce it but that will be all...

Regards, David

PS Seriously, if only I had a pound for every time I've bought something for serious money and then seen one go for the opening bid or £1-04...

Oooops, just remembered.

Oooops, just remembered.

Hi,

Oooops, I just remembered, be careful with non Leitz filters as some are a little too big and cover the aperture lever.

I hope this makes it clear.
