Orange rangefinder filter

I've finally purchased an orange rangefinder filter for my IIIc. It fits just fine, but I'm not sure which window it goes on. Does it go over the window closest to the rewind knob or the one closest to the shutter dial? Thanks for your help.

I'm not an expert but I think it goes on the one closest to the shutter dial. If I'm wrong you will get many replies.

Your choice. I believe Leica's intent was for it to go on the RF window, the one closest to the shutter-speed dial, as John mentioned.

This colors the center (moving ) RF spot.

Some folks like to put it on the main VF window, leaving the center-spot uncovered.

I prefer it on the main RF window, but as far as I understand it, that's not the Official Choice.
