Jorge, do you have a Leica grip? I'd be interested in any comparison between the Leica grip and a Luigi grip.

I think Luigi's grip is much nicer.
The Leica grip is just too far NE by the compas points. Luigi moves his grip inboard so that it feels like a typical grip on an SLR. That is much more comfortable.

I'm using the Leica grip, and the odd thing about it is that they made it of the same slightly slippery material that they use on the body. It's not bad -- I can walk around with the camera dangling from my fingers, if I'm reasonably careful -- but it's not as grippable as it might have been.
Also, I'll admit that I kind of like Luigi's grips because they give you the clueless tourist look, which is a look that's fine with me. People usually don't mind if clueless tourists are taking pictures on the street, because that's what tourists do.

No grip: The case on my M6 has a small bump that provides plenty of xtra grip - my hands are not that big (but my feet are huge) 🙂 - The M8 version has the same.
Detachable flat: I find that I use the LCD a lot to meter, then set the speed manually, therefore I need the LCD. Mixed light, available light, etc. Did not want to have the flat hanging all the time.
Veridict: Great Luigi product as always. He truly is a master of his craft. It fits like a glove and is made to the highest standards. It provides an amazing improvement in grip - my hand does not tire at all. I really have not used the back flap at all while shooting - more for when I have the camera slung on my shoulder or in its bag. The case is perfect without the flap - I would even suggest that he offer one without it, thus avoiding the snaps on the back for those who do not use it often. Though I have to say it is cool to shoot sometimes with the flap on - you even forget you are using a digital.
It does add a few milimeters to the width - no prob in my experince for the past days.
My only "con" observation is that the case is cut rather close to the upper edge of the dial/ toggle. I find that I need to use the bottomg of the dial instead of the top like I was use to with my 1Ds and 5D. Nothing wrong with this, other than I have to teach an old dog a new trick.

Half case - I am not a big fan of the full case. I would only use a full case as a transportation medium to protect the camera, it seems too much to have hanging from your shoulder. I have a little Fogg pauch that fits my M8 and 35 'cron perfectly. I use this to carry the camera when more than a half case ir required.
Grip of the case adds much more traction - rather like a leather baseball feel - one that has been hit a few times - and it only gets better as Luigi's cases wear. The small "bump" for your finger (right handed) allows a light grip. The camera without the case...like a baseball still wrapped in plastic cover - slippery.
I do not know anyone who has the added grip, though I am sure there are a few out in the RFF world who have it. For me, not necessary..a little bulky, etc. Never been a fan of the grips, but then I do not shoot for entire weddings or similar....
