I am concidering an Orion EE 35mm Russian Compact as a carry in my car camera.. It is Fully auto or Manual..with an optical VF and scale focus.. It has a 40mm f/4 lens and SS from B-1/250s. It looks likes like a pretty good copy of something. Just can't place it. :bang:

Anyone own or have owned one, And anything I need to know as far as quirks with it?? Or is it a faily stable user??

Thanks in advance for any insite on the this model.

This is an original Soviet design - in fact a slightly simplified version of the Siluet Electro. It's a cheaply made family snapshot camera mainly produced for the Soviet domestic market from 1976 - 1980 and in terms of picture quality not unlike similar cameras in the west. Three or four years ago, in the UK, Mr Cad sold "new old stock" for around £10.00, which was probably about right. It's pictures have an undeniable charm, with strongly saturated colours, but sharpness is not of the highest and there is lots of flare. An interesting camera nonetheless, wth an honest crudity and quirkiness lacking in the over-hyped Lomo. I had a Siluet Electro in the 80s and gave it away to someone who thought it was just perfect :) Her father liked it so much he bought one too!

Cheers, Ian
