Orlando Fujicolor plant closing; 64 to lose jobs

The Fujicolor Processing plant in Orlando, which employs 64 workers, will be closing its doors and laying off all its workers within the next two months, the company disclosed this week.

The company notified the state of Florida about the plant closing on Tuesday, under the provisions of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The letter to the state said Fujicolor Processing expected to lay off its Orlando employees on June 10. Company officials said today that the plant on Satellite Boulevard is still in operation but declined to specify the date the plant would actually close.

Corporate spokeswoman Darla Kammen said in a written statement that Fujicolor Processing, based in Tarrytown, N.Y., was taking the action in the face of "the rapidly increasing customer migration from traditional photography, taking pictures on film, to digital imaging."

That sucks! Will not be long until I have to send my E-6 off to be processed. My local lab has been rumbling about closing things down. They already act like I have asked them to sacrifice a newborn every time I want to push process one of my E-6 rolls.
