All over NYC there are street vendors selling prints, framed and unframed. Are these stock photos that are being bootlegged? Is anyone makinging money off of them besides the venders? I only ask beceaues some are really low quality prints of nice photos.

The one vendor I talked to a few years back claimed to have taken his photos himself. His prints were of fairly good quality. They all seem to have the same subject matter. I think they sell mainly for tourists. Some are good quality dome are not. The vendors in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art seem to have better quality. I think if you talk to any of them for even a short period of time it will become apparent if they took the photos themselves. I think a lot of them buy the print in bulk and sell them and don't have a clue about photography.

I can definetly apperciate the subject matter, but wouldn't really think to purchase any of it. I work right across from Radio City and see these guys all the time, never once did I see any of them with a camera. Some of them are really nice shots from interesting points of view that you can't normally get to. I'm thinking you can probably buy them pretty cheap from a stock photo company and copy them.
