I struggle at times to keep myself from jumping into a thread and saying "Who cares?", or "Is this really your biggest problem?", or "Buy the d#@n thing and see what happens" . . . or some smarta$$, snarky commentary like that.

So, my question is . . . do you find yourself dropping your opinion on a topic that you really (really really) don't care about ?

Impulse control online is an important muscle to develop.
It's easy to overlook that people exercise this in different ways.

For some who may post about the vacillation of buying or not buying something or another... this may be their form of exercising impulse control 😛

Don't sweat the little things Mate!

It's good to remind ourselves sometimes....
....It's easier to have regrets about what you did not say rather than regrets about what you did!

Just release......

Walk away without a comment and you will be happier.

..... find the things you like and work with them and at the end of the day you sleep a lot better.

This is the only forum I've ever really participated in, and I used to make a lot more comments, but a year or two ago I decided that no one really thought about other peoples opinions anyway, so why bother?
My breaking point was a thread asking questions about picture framing. This has been my profession for 25 years, and I really know what I'm doing. But people who don't do this for a living wanted to argue about it. I cannot understand why. And I suddenly couldn't understand why I was wasting my time pissing into the wind.

I think people start threads looking to bolster their own opinions, usually not to have them changed.

I thought we had to give our opinions to confuse others. No? 😀😀

On a more serious note, I think threads like "which camera to get?" are useless as every poster recommended a different camera which I am sure led to more confusion to the OP.

Opinion threads related to developing/scanning are very helpful.

Your thread is just fine, Kutay. All the best of luck to you for a positive outcome, and speedy recovery.

If I don't care about it, or have nothing constructive to say, I don't reply. Other times I'll write up a nice long critique, then delete it. Folks will always bring up a subject that's been beaten to death around here without doing any kind of research. I know I must have when I first started.

I'm surprise sometimes because I find myself interested. Even it is something I wouldn't think I'm not interested in especially. But I'm very happy to learn about something in photography that I'm just peripherally interested in.

I suppose if I don't really care then I don't really participate in the thread
Why give bad advice or rain on someone's Parade

Just don't make it your Problem... Let it go, You'll live longer and be Happier
I am still learning this in Life .arghhh 😀

On a sidenote becoming a 'moderator' has made my Life here a little less Fun
So I am having to reevaluate my thinking, writing habits, and become more neutral

I`m afraid that I`ve reached that point too.

Occasionally you get a discussion where there is an informed exchange of opinions and you learn something.

Otherwise its as you describe .
Just people wanting to bolster their own opinions adding a few buzz words to lend it some supposed credibility but otherwise not worth the effort.

Yes, I recognize this.
But mostly, just in time, I realize nobody is really interested in my opinion and I would only spoil other peoples fun. So just let it go.

One should have an opinion who should be the next head of government.
But whether black or chrome Leicas are to be prefered is relevant only to a small group; they should discuss it.

This is like the question if you may wear brown shoes with black trousers...

I have found that when someone asks about a certain camera problem I take their problem and make it mine...I'll search for an answer, part number or where they can find what they're looking for...then, I think about what I've just done and ask...if I can find their answer in just a few minutes then they should also be able to do the same...
I have also written replies to threads then deleted them and walked away...for the same reason...or while reading a thread I see that someone has responded with what I want to say then I don't because it's been said already...
I have given my "Quick" opinion in the past but now I think about responding a bit longer and usually opt not to...As much as I want to say "Who Cares??" I refrain from doing so...
