Canon LTM P lust

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Congrats, Roland! Nice looking kit. Is it going to join us in Sacramento on Sunday?

Won't make it Sun, unfortunately, Steve. Probably too wet for the ride, and will be working on my honey-do list ....

Sure you guys will have fun though :)

Roland.

Mine arrived as well. I seem to have mostly got away with the "no return" buy -- the camera looks great and seems to work mostly well, I think. The shutter seems to have a slight bit of recoil, if that's the right word, on 1/30 only. I mean that it goes click-click as normal, then immediately what sounds like about three echoing clicks of increasing faintness after. (So, "CLICK-CLICK, CLIck click clk" :)). The shutter is also generally louder than I expected, but expectations aside, I am a novitiate RFFer with few other cameras to compare to -- all of them leaf-shutter -- so I'm not sure how loud it should be. It's probably hard to judge without a sound recording, but does anyone out there think any of above seems indicative of a serious shutter problem?

Other than that, the film speed reminder dial on the back turns very stiffly, such that I can't move it without wearing a rubber glove to give my fingers extra grippiness -- but if this the worst of my worries, I'm quite happy!

I did run a test roll through on Saturday, then managed to completely and thoroughly destroy it through an embarrassingly daft processing error that I shan't go into here! :bang: Now must retry.

Don't worry. I know that sound from all of my 3 Ps, also the one that has been serviced by Mark Hama makes that funny echo. About noise level: I cannot compare to M Leicas, but the shutter is much more quiet than my Bessa R.

Right then! With three of you saying it's normal (particularly Wallace, on a unit serviced by Mark Hama, meaning it is Perfect), I am reassured. Thanks!

I think I need one. Man....why can't we just stick with one of anything? I got my first 35mm in 20 years (a Canon IVSB) a few months ago. It's works fine, is great really. I'm gonna keep it forever. But the P model does look a little cooler, and my 45yr old eyes could use a bigger viewer....I'm looking out for one too.

Here's my Canon P, sporting a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 lens. I bought the camera body on ebay from a very good vendor out of Tokyo (jiri_e). The lens is new; bought it from Adorama in New York. I figured I'd go for the assured clarity and quality of a new Voigtlander. I'm thinking of getting the Voigtlander 90mm to match.

If you bought from Jiri Ecer, you DID buy from a fine guy! You also got the most underrated RF camera ever made IMHO.
