Pacific Image PrimeFilm 7200 35mm

i use the xa model--it seems plenty good, better than either my (now broken) Minolta Multi or my canon 9000f (which is very practical and does great on 120 film). But you have to move the holders by hand. the native software is minimalist, but it works. i tried mine with vuescan, the native software (cybersomething), and silverfast.

I have this scanner as a Costco branded item but it's the same thing and I like it. Just as important, Pacific Image tech support is very good. I first met them two years ago when I scanned Dad's old slides with a Powerslide 500. I hated it. If your slides are all the same, in perfect mounts, it might work smoothly. Often it would feed a slide halfway and then I would have to go back and do that one over. It would never feed the first slide properly so I had to leave that one empty. I had to watch it closely to see if it had jammed. It only destroyed one slide out of about five hundred. The 7200 is a simple scanner. there are holders for six negatives or four slides. Click the holder in place, push the button and walk away for three minutes. It works well for me. Joe

In one word - "garbage". I purchased it at BH for 199 USD in 2014 and it was nothing but frustration. Sold it cheap and with full disclosure. Software which comes with it is utterish garbage. VueScan was handling it instead, but the scanner itself is garbage. It will start to produce uneven (bars) exposure quickly after start, has to be turned off and on, but it was never good enough. It was also weird with BW negatives. And it is very noisy and shaky apparatus.

Few days ago I purchased Plustek 8200i for 250 USD at BH (100$ manufacturer discount). I did it after using of one of very first Plustek made one for couple of years. 7200 Plustek or something model. Purchased in NiB locally for 25 CAD. No issues at all.
