Go down the Primefilm 7250 pro3 page to my review part two.
Good points.
Its decent.
I get sharp scans at 3600 dpi.
The factory software does some sort of sharpening without asking.
Results with Silverfast and Vuescan are slightly softer.
Its got a decent DR.
It will scan very very thin B+W film okay.
Cyberview comes with ICE, ROC and GEM and when you get the right B+W profile it nails the image almost every time automatically. A heck of a lot faster and easier than Vuescan or even silverfast.
It will scan an entire roll, see below....
Bad points
It misframes from time to time but you can manually adjust it. Hammrick says it only moves the film X distance with out any sort of verification, IE a Nikon 5000 counts the sproket holes.
I have scanned a few complete rolls of 36 or 24 and it hit every frame. Others it misframes almost every time.
Silverfast is cumbersome to batch scan with. Flaky actually and has a couple of bug, but that has nothing to do with the scanner.
On multiple scans of the same image in Vuescan it mirrors part of the image. Ed is working on that.
For some reason Silverfast does a lot better with framing.
With Cyberview and Vuescan if it gets off by part of a frame it stays that way though an entire roll. Might do the same with Silverfast.
This seems to be mostly caused by scanning the emulsion side when the film is cupped or curled, IE up at the end or up on the corners. If its perfectly flat no problems really.
I had a lot better feeding with the emulsion side down, but its softer.
Mine streaks/color bands on the left side, but that could just be this scanner or the calibration. That only happens with Slide film. Saw it a couple of times with Color negs. Never with B+W.
I get some distinct vertical lines occasionally , but overall acceptable.
A lot of noise in underexposed slide. Cyberview exacerbate it. Silverfast and Vuescan
Both seem to use some sort of smoothing algorithm, so maybe that is why they are a bit softer.
Scanning over 3600 dpi is futile and returns nothing beyond 3600 dpi.
Mine is going back. I can live with everything but the color banding. Not sure if I will exchange or wait since I have a drum scanner.
Best thing to do is go to the link below and check out the full size scans at 3600 dpi compared to drum scans.

Feel free to email me with any questions. I am sending it back tomorrow.
