Pakon vs v700...FIGHT!

Straight out of the box, it's no contest.....the Pakon kills the V700. The V700's holders are horrible IMO. I'd grab a cheap WinXP laptop from eBay and get the Pakon. Not only is it cheaper, it's a far more enjoyable experience.

I'm just concerned about image quality at 3000x2000 (pakon's highest).

I know the V700 is far more finicky to use, but my I might put up with the extra aggravation if the 3000 pixel wide scans from the v700 begin to approach the Pakon. The compromise would be worth it because I like to shoot slides and I like to shoot MF, which the F135 won't handle.

if you are shooting both 35mm and 120 then get the V700 first, then buy the Pakon afterwards for 35mm.

I use my V600 for 120 and the Xpan, for 35mm I use the Pakon because of the speed.

v700 on 35mm is really not very good.

I have a 4990, the one that came right before it. Its fine for 4x5 or 6x7 but I would honestly go through the inconvenience of wet printing and scanning the print rather than scan the 35mm negative directly.
