Pan F and Pyro, Rodinal

Anyone with any experience with Pan F in PMK Pyro? How about with Rodinal?

Any sample images would be appreciated.

I've used Pan F and Rodinal in the past, but its been awhile. The directions that come with the rodinal result in rather contrasty negs, and in my opinion iso 50 is a stretch. I'd expose at 25 and underdevelop.
The grain is beautiful, tiny and razor sharp, but to show it evenly over your whole print you need a good enlarging lens, stopped in the F/8 range, a neg carrier that will hold the neg perfectly flat, and a well aligned enlarger. As for negative scanning, nothing will do that film justice. Tonality is really nice...
I eventually quit using that combination because of the demands it places on the rest of the gear. Better to use a larger negative and faster film in my opinion.

Bryce, that is what I have read as well - iso 25 or 32. I would love a larger neg, but my enlarger (and film scanner) only go to 35mm, so unfortunately, that is not an option. Thanks.

Ray, here are 3 all in Rodinal 1+25......unfortunately Rodinal, PanF, and my scanner were all new to me at the time (and I even forgot to greyscale the butterfly after scanning as a colour neg), but I was pretty pleased with the results. When I zoomed on the baseball diamonds I could see baseball players and they must have been 3-4 kilometers away.

Here are a couple with PanFPlus and Rodinal, rated at box speed.

I would never use anything more concentrated than 1:50 on Pan F+. 1:100 is more my style, but in many lighting situations 1:50 (or something in between) could be useful.

PanF 120 rated at box speed and 510 Pyro (sorry not PMK).

Wow, nice.
Have a roll in the fridge, was thinking of a bright sunny winter snow scene sometime soon.....(but not TOO soon).

Out of curiosity, what are the precautions that you guys take when using Pyro? Gloves, mask? Just gloves? I'm thinking of trying it but I want to know what else I should buy with it first.

Do people typically shoot Pan-F at box speed or do you rate it at 32 or even 25? I always shot it at box speed, but I just got another 500' of it and I'm wondering if I could get better results if I rate it slower.

Pan F seemed contrasty for me so I develop 70% of recommended time and temp @ 1:100 and water bath for 5 mins afterwards. it was still contrasty.

Sun and snow will be a good test, if shots critical you might want to bracket.

Tripod recommended...

My results superb, even with my best old J8, no scanner sorry.

Steph,
I wear gloves and mask when mixing dry chemicals, gloves when mixing the syrup into a working dillution.

Todd, is there a big difference between 510 and PMK? The PMK is readily available in liquid concentrate from PF, and I really do not cherish the thought of dealing with raw chemicals for the 510.
