Today I tested the Panagor 35mm f2 against the Zuiko 35mm f2.8 sc. I used the Zuiko last summer and I found it a bit bland, compared to the 35mm setting of the Zuiko 35-70mm f3.6 zoom. A few months ago I stumbled upon the Panagor 35mm in Om mount for €30 and bought it. I think it is a very good lens, regardless of price. To me it is a sleeper/keeper. Images and tests at: http://www.pbase.com/jajong/pana35mm
By the way, the images are not pp-ed, other than a fixed amount of sharpening after conversion from Tiff and resizing.

Cheers,
Jan

I sold the OM Zuiko 35/2.8 for the same reason, the 35-70/3.6 is better in resolution and colour compared to the prime. I found the 35/2.8 Zuiko boring, except at close distances where it is very sharp.

How is the Panagor at f2? I´d be surprised to see an off-brand lens perform at open aperture.

Funny, I have had the 35 f2 Zuiko and the 35 f2.8 Zuiko also but ditched the f2 as the 2.8 was just better. I liked it's size and preformance. haven't tries it at 2.8, most exposures have been at smaller stops. Could have been a bad sample I suppose.

Thanks for this info! I was contemplating giving up on my OM cameras as I could never find a decent 35mm lens for them! (All my zoom lenses are better than my fixed 35mm Zuiko's.) I am going to start looking for a Kino!

Billie, in the Pbase samples you will find 2 images at f2 (not the most imaginative, just for testing🙂 ) . I will shoot a roll of Fomapan at f2 and report back here; I'm fairly hopeful it will perform, although focussing at f2 is critical, so I have to be careful about that.

Cheers,
Jan
