Questions about adapters to Microscopes
Questions about adapters to Microscopes
I use many scopes daily and all have T-mount adapters for my cameras ... anyone know of a source for 4/3 to T-mount?
My telescopes use the same ...
I have just been doing some close-ups using the kit as received and it is really impressive.

I suggest doing an ebay search first. I have an idea that I have seen one advertised. If you Goggle these words "t mount 4/3 adapter" you will also see that this question has been asked before in a few different forums so that may answer it for you.
If not able to find any it may be necessary to go T mount to Nikon (say) then Nikon to 4/3. (Or of course M42/ Minolta/LeicaR) The only restriction I note is that Canon mount seems incompatible with 4/3 I assume because the register distance while larger is only larger by a couple of millimeters so there is not enough fat for an adapter in between. Stacking adapters like this is not that uncommon.

Well, I know what my first upgrades will be for my L1.
An SMC Pentax-M 50mm f1.4 lens with a Pentax K 4/3 adaptor....my lord, you all should see the images this piece of glass puts out! Very film like...
Do a search on Flickr, and you'll see what I mean...simply amazing for such an inexpensive lens...low light here I come

Wonder what the 50/1.4 Super Takumar will end up producing on the L1.. oh, the possibilities!

I can say from personal experience that the 50/1.4 SMC Takumar produces very nice images with lovely bokeh from my limited experiments with it on the L1. This is entirely in keeping wiht its repuatation as a sharp and smooth lens. I might add, the Nikon 50/1.4 and the Nikon 50/2.0 are also good performers.
I have also experimented a bit with the SMC 105/2.8 and can say it produces lovely images too.
I posted a shot taken with this lens at this forum / thread.

Well, I must confess I lied - I forgot that I'd chosen quick shipment, so the L1 is here already!
First impression - it's a relatively big kit , about the size of a K10D with the Tamron 18-250 mounted. The K10D kit weighs in at 1312 grams (with battery) and the L1 kit (w/out the battery - it's charging now) weighs about 1082 grams. The difference in weight can be felt easily. The Leica lens looks great and boy do I feel lucky to have kept those huge 72mm filters, now I can finally use them (they were a left over from another Lumix that I had, forget the model.) Still waiting for my K-4/3 adapter to arrive but tomorrow we be taking pictures with the L1!

What a pleasant surprise that must have been ... !!!
My next question:?
What might be the best 4/3 lenses equivalent to my:
CV Ultron 35/1.7 - Asph
CV Nokton 50/1.7 - Asph
Canon 50/0.95
Canon 100/2
I realize there is much subjectivity in this question but opinions are a
good place to begin. These are the lenses I am using on my R-D1 and
just want to consider aligning the kits.

I can only speak for one lens. (Not that I own it - I have only drooled over it.) The Leica 25mm f1.4 Summilux. Equivalent to 50mm in 35mm format, its a gorgeous if pricey piece of kit. Would be a good sub for your Nokton 50. But its BIG!

Somewhere or other I have seen some photos taken by the lens too and they look pretty impressive.
EDIT Here is one, together with some taken by the kit lens.

Wow! All I can say is WOW!!! The handling on the L1 is absolutely beautiful! Reminds me very much of a rangefinder. Now, the lens... this lens is the best lens I've ever used! This is no exaggeration...Leica glass really lives up to it's reputation on this one
Here's a couple shots I took over this weekend...I'm still getting used to this camera, but wow! The manual controls are wonderful!!!

Glad you like it.
I would also be interested to hear your impressions of the camera's handling of color. I have heard very good things about this and personally speaking am also impressed by it. It somehow seems to have a very mellow color rendition. (thats the only way I cna describe it. Hard to describe but you will know it when you see it.)
I also like the cameras handling of in-camera black and white. I was surprised at how contrasty it could be when I shot images of sky and trees / vegetation. Almost as if I was using a color separation filter for black and white, the blue sky came out nice and dark and quite distinguished from the trees' foliage. Very nice indeed. I used to be of the opinion that one must always shoot in color then convert using Photoshop. But no longer. This camera handles it very well indeed.
Back to the sharpness issue. Somewhere I saw MTF curves for the lens and at both the short and long end the curves were right up the scale there. Very pleasing. This has not stopped me using third party legacy lenses with adapters and subject to a little fiddlyness in use, find that this is quite fun to and makes the camera even more like a rangefinder when in use. I have found that it pays to use only the sharpest lenses as that 4/3 format demands this given the smaller sensor size.

The color on here is incredible...no post processing was needed. Also, the sharpness of the lens needs no touch ups either. I'm truly impressed with this setup...can't wait to shoot more soon! Sorry, I'm making this one short...the ball game is on

My wife's stepfather, David Gil, is visiting us in Florida. Today while talking about a new movie he is working on (he is an acomplished filmmaker), I shot a few candids of him using the L1 at 400 ISO with the Leica lens.

I shot this candid photo on a bus recently. OK I used a SMC Takumar 105 f2.8 not the Leica kit lens but still like the way the camera handled the colors. Nice detail from the lens too.

Excellent examples of color handling especially in the apples and tomatoes photo. The camera does definitely have "something" in this department that I like. Its a kind of smooth mellowness even when the saturation is turned right up. There is no harshness or artificiality about it. Very nice!

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention that I like the "Dynamic" color setting
.
Well, my "Pentax K-Olympus (3/4) Adapter" from Fotodiox has arrived. I mounted it on the L1, then mounted a Pentax AF lens (the 50-200 D lens) and - nothing. Can't see anything on the LCD or thru the viewfinder (lens cap removed). Do I need to crack open the Manual
to figure this out or is there a simple answer to this? Thanks a bunch.
