Some of my first pics with the G1 and the newly arrived China adapter.

Lighting was low so some motion from the kids is detectable.

Fun camera! Kit lens is nice too.

First two pics from the VC 40mm/1.4 at 1.4/2.0.

Third of the 24/2.8 asph wide open. (Must practice my digital B/W conversions!)

Any comments appreciated.

Regards,
Roel

Looks like the Chinese adapter is doing ok for these close up images. I hear there are some problems with it at infinity but I have not tried mine out yet. The last shot seems pretty nice for black and white with a digital camera, sure there is always room for improvement but not too bad says I.

I got to get my hands on this camera sooner rather then later, its killing me that it is so expensive here and I got the big rent bill coming up....

Very nice. Thanks for posting these shots. The 40/1.4 will be one of the lenses I'll be using on the G1 once I get it. It's nice to see examples from the Nokton and the G1 together.

PB,

I used the Jpegs (not raw) Just did a little bit in Iphoto. I think a little bit colortemperature and a little bit lighter. No sharpening.

Nice!

I've got the 40/1.4 sc on my G1 now. I took a bunch of mirror selfies last night (because no one would sit for me) using all of my lenses (and no I won't post them!). Where possible, all were shot at 1/80 @ f2.8. With some lenses it was difficult to get the sharpest image, but on the whole the 35, 40, and 50 focal lengths were very easy to focus, and the 40/1.4 was consistently very very nice.

Ray,

"SC" is for single-coated, correct?

Do you know the different (in look) between SC and normal multi-coated?

TIA

Cmon Ray!
Let's see em.

:D

no f*ing way! :D believe me it's not pretty. it's a bunch of shots of me at 11 PM after a long day at work standing in front of the bathroom mirror with a 2x crop (the 90s are frightening). i'm sick of looking at myself. It's pretty effective exercise though. if I had to select a lens for a portrait taken of me with the G1 it would have to come from the Nokton group (35, 40, 50). (Kind of like picking the gun for a firing squad.):p

I feel like in the long list of variables that will affect your final picture the SC vs MC is something that is very small and you can compensate your photographs in other more effective ways.

I agree. Don't know if the MC provides better flare protection (?). The rumor is that the SC provides a better b&w image, but I'm not sure I could tell.

I don't have the MC so I can't compare but the above pics have been taken with an SC. Had no flare problems yet.
