I recently bought a Novoflex adapter so I can use my Leica lenses on my G1
I'd assumed (probably incorrectly) that I could use the focusing scale on the lens rather than having to use the screen which means I can't use hyperfocal focussing as I'd hoped. Novoflex tell me that this is the case but I've heard of some problems with the Novoflex adapters so could someone with some user experience either confirm or deny this?
Thanks
Dave

Umm...wouldn't it be easy to do a few hyperfocal tests of your own? You have the gear in hand.

What I'm saying (and sorry if it wasn't clear) is the lens doesn't focus on the distance indicated on the focussing scale. I wanted to know if this is as it should be or whether there is a problem with the adapter as I have heard there have been

The first adapters had problems focusing to infinity with some lenses and so JMfinance amongst othere deliberately shotertened the adapters to focus 'past infinitiy'. The only real answer is to use the G1 screen and ignore the focusing scale in my experience. The screen does show you both depth of field and effect of shutter speed which can be useful at times.

I emailed Novoflex who responded rather abruptly advising there were NO issues with their adapters. This is despite the numerous references on the internet to the contrary. They also said the lens would not focus in line with the distance scale on it
So I then emailed Speedgraphic who had sold me the adapter. I had the receipt but had bought it in December 2008. They said Novoflex had not advised them of any problems but asked me to return it to them to check it out.
I sent the adapter on Tuesday and today (Thursday) I received by Special Delivery a brand new replacement adapter. This works perfectly and pictures are absolutely sharp and focussing is bang in line with the scale on the lens
So big thanks for fantastic service from Speedgraphic and shame on you Novoflex for completely denying any problems and telling me a total untruth regarding focussing of the lens
