I just received an email notice that the G-1 is in stock at B&H. Any people planning to buy?

Leo's in Vancouver has stock too. A salesman there showed me how he used his 35 Summicron-M with it (holding in place over the sensor) and using it in reverse to make macro shots. Very cool!
He also said Novoflex is working on an M to Micro 4/3 adapter!

When the 20mm comes out, we'll see. By that time though, Oly may have it's m4/3rds out for consideration.

Well, I just ordered one. I'm going on a trip and wanted to give it a try. Still looking for the perfect digicam. I already have buyer's remorse.

Ebay seller selling them consistently $500-$600
Ebay seller selling them consistently $500-$600
No affiliation, here but I have been watching this ebay seller, prodigital2000 for about two weeks. 68000 transactions and 99% positive feedback. Canadian seller and all other information I can dig up shows good history. I have tracked well over a dozen Lumix G1's for the last week plus from just this seller, and not one has gone over $600, except their occasional BIN at $699. Why one would pay that after watching the auctions...
One went today for $530 and another for $570, as I recall.
With lens and kit.
I'm about ready to snag one here.
I thought after they sold a couple at that price, they'd bump up, but they have been putting 2 to 4 a day on auction.
Please somebody... find the catch. I don't think there is one.
Again. I am not connected with this seller in any way. And as further disclosure, Please do your own homework on this. I put this up strictly as a CYOA post.

me too. Solid transaction.
I hate the look of the G1, but once M adapters are available, and Panasonic puts out a more appealingly (to me) styled alternative, it could be a nice portable (rangefinderless) substitute for an M8. With all your focal lengths effectively doubled of course.

Well-known
Lowest price for kit in Japan is about 630 dollars.

Interesting point

The auction listings state there is a one year International limited Warranty. I sent a question for clarification.
Then I checked with Amazon, which stated no warranty information available, and then Ritz camera, to find that the warranty there is a one year US warranty.
Waiting to see the response from Prodigital2000. The response I got from those here who had good trans with Prodigital2000, reflects other similar responses from various sources.

I've bought quite a few things from Prodigital2000, and they're legit.

My M5s need red dots!
Looks like a very competent digital camera...

I have had some alone time with this camera myself, here in China the going rate is about 645 dollars with kit lens. Not really impressed with the body and all that but the EVF is great, and really not that hard to use, nothing like I was expecting from the likes of the Sony R1 and such where you cant see anything in the dark at all, seems like this just drops the frame rate of the finder a bit make each frame's exposure "longer".

Avotius,
How have you found the picture quality, especially at higher ISOs? I am thinking that the larger sensor must give you at least an extra 2x-4x in usable sensitivity.

Beginner...
I managed to play with one in a store, it was sitting alongside the Olympus e420 and e520 and I just couldn't get my head around it. It's almost as big as the 420, and once it's that big and looks almost the same, to me it loses any advantage over any other low-mid range DSLR. Unless of course, the image quality is better, which some suggest it might be.
What I'd love to see is Olympus bring out one like their mockup then the system would appeal. A Micro 4/3rds Leica CL....

Am I right in understanding that this camera has no physical shutter coverign the sensor.
If so, how long until someone burns the sensor by leaving the lens cap off?
Major flaw?

Henrys.ca has it for CDN$799- for the kit. Given the weak Canadian dollar, that's a pretty good deal for US buyers.

There's always wiggle room if you walk in. But websales to the US won't have GST or PST. You can claim back the GST at the border for the tourists.

Anyone have hard data on an M-adapter? When I saw this design, I thought that this could be a great way to get some extra use out of my RF lenses. I guess it would depend on the quality of the electronic VF too.
