Hi Everybody,

I've been working on a series this past year, attempting to convey the feeling of being in different parts of the world, with compositional influences from cinematography.

The series is still a work in progress. I've yet to decide what form it will finally take, but I'd really appreciate any feedback from the community.

Many Thanks,

Murray

An intriguing theme, with this photo above showing very different environments in a dramatic way. And lovely landscapes on your tumblr...

I like your choice of aspect ratio at 2.25:1. It's right in the 70mm Panavision ballpark. Wide enough, not excessively wide, and good for still photography. NICE shot, by the way.

Thanks for the kind words, over the past year I've been drawn to trying to get past the idea of landscape photography as sharing a pretty view, instead attempting to communicate how it felt to be in the environment at that time. Placing the viewer in the location, sitting in the wind waiting for the light to change, breathing the air, so to speak.

Unfortunately, the house I was renting in Bali while finishing this was robbed two weeks ago. They took all my gear, as well as my master image files and all of my backup drives. Insurance will replace the equipment, but nearly all of the work is lost. So I've no choice but to re-equip and set off again to make some more images, with a cloud backup strategy this time.
