peer review...rd1 images only!

anyone is welcome to critique any and all of the images that follow in this thread.

a review from an rd1 image maker is most appreciated and welcomed.

there are no rules except to be civil, even if/when offering negative feedback.

all who post images here do so with the desire to learn and grow and become more proficient in their chosen art form.

the more information about the image, the better...information such as lens used, settings image was taken at, special techniques etc. will help us learn all that much quicker.

Reminds me of a Levis-commercial or something like that, simple and stylish, but not too much. I always like the BW-rendering of the R-D1. The camera should have been a little bit more visible (but not as much as to make it into a Canon-commercial...), to make it more interesting.

I agree, nice stylish shot Back Alley, especially the stark contrast between the camera and the background. And the texture of the jeans in contrast with the straight lines of the lens.
I think I would've attempted for a bit more panoramic style shot where there would also be some fuzzy background to the left of the jeans, and the jeans+camera positioned on the horizontal 1/3rd from the left. Don't know how that would've worked out.

Zen-Shooter, Nice composition and bokeh. But the slightly-out-of-focus log is gnawing at me a little. I think I would've attempted to include the log in the DOF.

I think I shot this one with a Jupiter-3 50mm f/1.5, And picture quality was set to JPG instead of RAW.

lovely toning in your image, my only suggestion would be to crop the left hand side of the image so that you get rid of the camera strap as it is very distracting and draws your eye to much. I think this would give a stronger image with better balance

I'm sorry but this doesn't work for me
1. if I was using the lens wide open I would be looking for some thing of inerest to be in the area of focus or if you are showing off the whole scene I'd be closing down the lens to get the whole image sharper and with this composition (which I like) I'd go for the greater depth of feild
2. the highlights in the background are too bright and draw your eye to much making it difficult to look around the image to see all the subtle details that the scene offered.

great composition,
if you are tring to show how well he hides in the bridge structure you have succeeded but if you want to show off the person more you could play around with the colour filter options to lighten the skin tones and depending the colour of the uniform you may be able to make it stand out from the bridge more.

I hope I don't sound too critical but these are just my ideas that may be of some help in getting people thinking more about the whole image and not just what was seen at the time of taking the image.

seems realistic
the bar running across the frame bothers me though, really interrupts the image.
your re-enactment shots are generally very good.
