Hey RFF.

Considering buying a small pelican case for my leica, 50mm, 15mm and gossen digisix meter.
Some background info, when I'm walking around, my leica is on my shoulder at all times. I'm carfree, which means I cycle everywhere, and I'm not sure if wrapping the leica in a sweater and throwing it in my bag is going to cut it anymore. I'm worried about crashes mostly, and also all the other stuff I stuff into my messenger bag damaging it.
So I'm wondering, how expensive would that size be around, is it worth it, and do I really need it?

The Pelican cases themselves are pretty indestructible, but as far as protection for what's in it after impact from a bike crash I have no experience. I suspect that you'd not ruin equipment- an RF alignment might be needed, but lens & camera would not be broken. I've stood on my Pelicans without any fear of damaging the view lenses inside.

I expect the case would cover you fine- but I've not tested this opinion.

I use Pelicans for my view camera lenses and another brand similar case for my 1114 camera. The view lenses have been all over in Pelicans for fifteen years with no worries. My 810 was in a big Pelican for years, but I've been using an LLBean canvas bag for it for the last three years- not pushing my luck with it, but I work out of the truck with LF these days.
