Hello,
I recently aquired a nice Pen Ft with the 1.8/38 standard and the 2/70 tele lens. The 2/70 came with the original hood but the 38mm didn't.
I didn't found a original Olympus hood and I also don't want to pay collector prices for it. What are my choices?
Do I need a wide angle lens hood for the 38mm lens? The angle of view is around the same than the normal lens in full frame so I think a hood for 50mm focal length should do without vignetting. Am I wrong?
Greetings, Tobias

I have a Hoya hood that I think was originally intended to a Rangefinder on my 38mm. It works well. I even tried it with the 20mm, and it still worked. I think that a hood intended for a 50mm on a fullframe camera will work on the 38mm half frame with no problem.
Good find on the 70mm. I want one of those but have not been able to find one in my price range.

Any reasonably short 43mm hood will do. Walz, Hoya, & other companies made hoods back in the '50s & 60s for the Nikon RFs (perhaps what navilluspm has) & ebay vendors like heavystar sell modern day clones (probably made in China).

I have the original hood but can recommend to use one of Cameraquests compact 43mm hoods with a nice CV lenscap instead.
Cheers,
Roland.

Thanks for the answers.
I just clicked through the heavystar website and I think I will try one of those 43mm metal hoods for rangefinder cameras.
