Penelope Cruz + Leica

whether people like here or not does not really matter, most of them probably haven't followed her career from start. But she is a tremendous actress, especially in her pre 2000 movies. Later she got a bit too much absorbed by Hollywood and started acting in movies more orientated toward money than film art. Though she seems back on track over the last two years. Cruz really has produced some outstanding acting over her career, hope that she will be remembered for that and not for being the girlfriend of a prick at some point in her life
I totally agree with this post.

Someone here uses this in his signature...love it.
Seems appropriate.

"Every hot girl who can aim a camera thinks she's a photographer. Oooooooh, you took a black-and-white picture of a lawn chair and its shadow and developed it at Save-On. You must be so brooding and deep." -- Stewie Griffin.

Guilty as charged. . . :D

and while it is a rather broad sweeping statement that Stewie makes, it does happen to be true in certain cases - for both guys and girls.

As for Cruz...I haven't seen many of her films but I do concur wrt her dating a prick :D a number of years ago.

So long famous people live, Leica will not disappear :)

It is easy like women when they have leica M :) Even those ugliest :)

Apparently Scarlett Johansson has a Leica too.

She was on Leno last night explaining how Kissing Cruz was not so hot as they were surrounded by a crew of 50 eating salami sandwiches, to which Leno replied that made it a more perfect fantasy because he was Italian. Don't know where the camera was during that scene.

One of Leno's assistants shoots Leica, I would have fired off this photo had I known, women kissing, Leicas, and Salami sandwiches, what else could one ask for?

I agree with the smoking thing, I always thought it was often used as a prop to give the actor something to do with their hands, and I can see how it can add to some scenes. I think I sometimes look at an interesting film in terms of great still images linked by the story. You can just see how many scenes would have made a great still. I do not like that smoking, etc. becomes glamorized by media.

Julia Roberts was pretty cool working with a Blad in another film, and my memory is slipping, but I think she was also using a Leica in some parts?

Probably says something when you spot a camera on Hi Def, rewind the DVR and blow it up to check it out. Sometimes a telephoto is just a lens?

Indeed, the film was "Closer" and she uses a Blad to shoot Jude Law, and a M6 (?) if memory serves to shoot Natalie Portman :D

Btw, very good movie.

It's her association with Tom, and that silly film Vanilla Sky that I don't care for.

That movie was a stupid hollywood Tom Cruise version of Penelope's very good "Abre Los Ojos" (Open Your Eyes)... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0125659/

I don't think the remake with Tom did anything to help her career. Is it just me or have things gone better for her since splitting with Tom?

So....ask yourself the question: If you had a choice, the actress or the Leica which would you choose?

I'm not sure what kind of tape is in that picture, but I've seen a lot of people using simple gaffer's tape.

I wasn't much of a Penelope Cruz fan until I saw Volver. Excellent movie, despite the fact that it has nothing to do with cameras.
